About Island Gold District: Alamos Gold’s Island Gold District will become one of the largest and lowest-cost gold mines in Canada. With the two mines within the district, Island Gold and Magino employ over 900 team members who work in the underground and open pit operations and are located in northern Ontario, just east of the town of Dubreuilville, 83 kilometres northeast of Wawa. Through ongoing exploration success, Island Gold District’s Mineral Reserves and Resources have continued to grow in size and quality. Role Overview:


The Site Services (Infrastructure) Summer Student will be responsible for assisting the Site Service Team with a full range of labour, maintenance, repair, and service activities. The incumbent will us considerable judgment in making decisions and be able to perform all tasks in accordance with Alamos’ workplace safety rules and regulations.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Cleaning, sweeping, shop housekeeping

  • Performing minor repairs of locks, doors, walls

  • Checking functionality of safety systems (fire alarms, fire extinguishers)

  • Mowing lawns, cutting brush

  • Installing appliances

  • Assisting Carpenters and Labourers with projects and repairs

  • Minor carpentry (cutting, shaping, assembling, and joining materials)

  • Other tasks as assigned.


Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:



  • Experience operating hand and power tools

  • Experience performing manual duties

  • Possess a valid Canadian driver’s license and clear driver’s abstract

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team

  • Ability to thrive in an environment of change; must be creative and flexible


Working Conditions:



  • Role is a 7-on / 7-off rotation (day shift only)

  • Pay or shift range: $19 CAD  to $31.97 CAD


Physical Requirements 
 



  • Role is physically demanding

  • Must be capable of working in adverse conditions

  • Must be capable of lifting/carrying up to 25 kg, walking on rough terrain, standing for prolonged periods, climbing stairs and ladders, working at heights, crouching, kneeling, bending, twisting, operating equipment
