Job Description - Summer student - Veterinary Assistant Technician

Job Summary

 


As a Veterinary Assistant Technician for our team in Senneville, you will be responsible for the well-being of our laboratory animals. Your contribution will ensure the health of our animals, as well as the integrity of our pre-clinical studies.

 

 




In this role, primary responsibilities include: 




 



  • Handling animals 

  • Data collection (body weight, body temperature, clinical signs)

  • Perform simple medical treatments under veterinary supervision

  • Maintain the veterinary laboratory, surgical rooms, and support spaces clean

  • Maintaining surgical instruments and equipment in proper working order (cleaning care and sterilization of appropriate supplies)


Key Elements

 


We are looking for the following minimum qualifications for this role: 


 



  • Animal Health Technology or Veterinary Medicine student;

  • Able to work physically (lift up to 20 kg, walk, stand, stoop, etc.);

  • Ability to quickly adapt to changes and good stress management;

  • Demonstrate excellent teamwork efforts and communication.


 


Please note that upon being hired, you will have to undergo an annual tuberculosis test at the expense of the company 


 


 


Role Specific Information: 


 



  • Location: 22022 route Transcanadienne, Senneville, QC, H9X 1C1;

  • Transportation: We offer a free shuttle service from the Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue train station and John Abbott College to the Senneville site. Free parking. Electric vehicle charging station;

  • Salary: $16.25/hrs

  • Premiums:

    • Weekends : $2.75/hrs;

    • Overtime : Time and a half;

    • Holidays: Double time;



  • Schedule: Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 4:15 pm. Depending on the operational needs, you may have to work 5 days per week between Monday to Sunday;

  • Temporary position for the summer period, full-time at 37.5hrs per week.

About Safety Assessment
