Summer Student - Warehouse Clerk

SUMMARY
Reporting to the Finance Director the warehouse Clerk provides administrative and maintenance support for the Keewaytinook Okimakanak (KO) warehouse. The Warehouse Clerk will be responsible for all receiving, handling, distribution, storage and inventory of all freight, products, and supplies for the organization. The Warehouse Clerk will assist wherever possible with all duties pertaining to the maintenance of KO properties and supplies.

DUTIES

• Assist with the reception, handling, distribution, and storage of all freight, products and supplies that come in and out of the warehouse.


• Ensure and maintain accurate inventory counts.


• Communicate all delays or variances in inbound/outbound freight to the appropriate parties.


• Assist with warehouse planning, layout and space requirements to prevent loss or damage, and to achieve full warehouse optimization.


• Operate an electric pallet jack in a safe manner to move products that must be shipped out.


• May be required to assist with scheduling freight appointments.


• Assist with loading of shipments.


• Assist inventory of shipping materials and supplies.


• Assist with accurate documentation and data entry for all shipments.


• Follow corporate policies regarding security and safety to maintain a safe working environment.


• Conduct periodic spot checks of inventory levels, supplies or equipment.


• Make deliveries by company vehicle as assigned.


• Assist with facility improvements, and repairs.


• Travel may be required.


• Perform other duties, as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Age Requirement: Youth must be 15 years of age at the beginning of the employment period and can be up to 30 years old at the end of the employment period, provided they were 30 at the start.


2. Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or be granted refugee protection in Canada. As per Canada Summer Jobs funding guidelines.


3. Must possess a valid Social Insurance Number.


4. Ability to speak/write Cree, Oji-Cree or Ojibway is a very strong asset along with a demonstrated competence in written and oral English.


5. Knowledge of the culture and traditions of the First Nation communities Keewaytinook Okimakanak serves is an asset.

The hourly wage for this position is $17.60
