Students will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of experiences including our Speaker Series, Fireside Chats, Volunteer opportunities and Networking events.
Eligibility Note: To qualify for a student (Co-op/Internship) opportunity, students must be enrolled in their academic studies at a post-secondary institution (university/college) and must be returning to school after completion of their work term with QuadReal. If you are a student registered in an official co-op program at your post-secondary institution and completion of a final work term is a mandatory component for you to graduate, you are eligible to apply with the understanding that you will leave QuadReal at the end of your work term or have the possibility to be considered for full-time opportunities.
Based in Vancouver, the Co-op/Intern, Tax, will report to the Manager, Tax Compliance, and will gain exposure to all tax processes within a Global Commercial Real Estate company.

What You Will Experience:
Assist with the creation and maintenance of a database of tax advice, memos, structure charts
Preparation of various international tax forms including residency and withholding tax certifications
Assist with indirect tax matters including GST registration, competition of indirect tax checklists
Assist with post implementation testing of Yardi tax calculations and reporting
Assist with the preparation of Canadian and US income tax returns
Assist with implementing a process for tracking tax compliance done by JV and REIT Managers
Work with other members of the Tax Team on tax planning and strategic initiatives
Creation of tax structure charts
Maintain template of tax basis tracking in all taxable investments
Assist with implementation of Project Simplify – preparing flowcharts, drafting narratives and booking meetings
Assist with automation in tax compliance and improve overall process efficiency
Assist with various tax administrative tasks and other ad hoc requests as assigned
What You Will Bring:
Currently enrolled in a Business/Commerce degree program with a specialization in Accounting or Finance
Strong quantitative and analytical skills; detail-oriented and proficient in building and handling complicated data sets
Excellent communication and presentation skills; demonstrate an ability to effectively communicate and present results that articulate key themes and messages.
Ability to allocate one’s time effectively, work under pressure and manage deadlines; ability to handle multiple demands, competing priorities; willing to learn and adapt to changes in a dynamic environment; organized; detailed orientated and a self starter
Must have advanced knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint and Word. VISIO and Tax Preparation Software
Must be extremely proactive and work well in a collaborative environment, with the ability to take guidance but then move projects forward independently
Embrace and pro-actively support QuadReal’s values and its culture of environmental sustainability and corporate and social responsibility
Previous tax knowledge or experience is desired
The expected hourly range for this role is $23 to $25.
