Job Description - University Research Assistant (Métis Health Experience Research Assistant)
About the Opportunity
This position is offered through the Canada Summer Jobs program and is a great opportunity for students or youth looking to gain hands-on experience in a professional, team-based environment.
You will support the planning and delivery of training programs by coordinating schedules, managing registrations, and communicating with participants.
The role includes preparing training materials and learning resources, assisting with virtual and in-person session logistics, and maintaining training records within databases and learning management systems (LMS). You will also track attendance, evaluations, and certifications, while supporting the development and formatting of presentations and educational content.
This role offers valuable, practical experience for those interested in Learning & Development (L&D) and training coordination, or administrative careers.
As per Canada Summer Jobs program requirements, candidates must be:
Between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at start of employment
A Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or a person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
Legally entitled to work according to BC legislation and regulation.
International students are not eligible. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian Citizens or permanent residents.
Job Duties
Conduct literature reviews, surveys, environmental scans, and other research to support publications, strategic initiatives, and program development.
Compile, organize, and analyze qualitative and quantitative research findings to support policy, program, and operational improvements.
Assist in drafting briefing notes, research summaries, case studies, grant applications, and other materials to support decision-making and healthcare partnerships.
Support the Métis Health Experience Program in collecting, documenting, and communicating Métis health experience stories for Métis audiences and health system partners.
Utilize storytelling and digital storytelling approaches to advocate for change and promote meaningful Métis representation within healthcare systems.
Conduct environmental scans related to digital storytelling practices and Métis storytelling traditions to inform program initiatives.
Develop and support implementation plans for digital storytelling projects and community engagement initiatives.
Assist with coordinating community engagement activities, event planning, and administrative duties for the Métis Health and Wellness Experience Circle.
Use and adapt to various technologies and software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, databases, and other digital tools.
Handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
Collaborate effectively within office and team environments to support cross-functional projects and organizational goals.
Education
In pursue of or holding College diploma/University degree in related field
