Queen’s Women in Science and Engineering (WiSE) is a student-run organization committed to promoting and advocating for the involvement of all female-identifying individuals in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields. Our mission has always been to inspire, educate and collaborate to promote & accelerate diversity in STEM industries.
WiSE operates on three main pillars: inspiring the next generation of women to pursue STEM, educating our community on the importance of diversifying and uplifting minority voices in STEM, and collaborating with like-minded women & individuals who share our goals.
First Year Interns will get the chance to shadow various Directors and Coordinators within WiSE and learn more about the planning that goes into each of our initiatives. This position will allow three first year students to build leadership and communication skills, while contributing ideas to WiSE and joining our 55-member executive team. First Year Interns will have the opportunity to work within the following portfolios: Events, Mentorship, Professional Development, Community Outreach, Outreach Events, Communications, Finance, Fundraising, Marketing, Graphic Design, Sponsorship, Logistics, & Web Design.
WiSE organizes a wide range of initiatives throughout the year including four Kingston-based community outreach programs, two mini conferences (Brunch and Dinner with Industry), a multi-faceted mentorship program, personal & professional development workshops, various fundraisers, and a podcast! Our First Year Interns will assist with various duties for any of these initiatives and get a behind-the-scenes look at all things WiSE. Further details about the events and programs WiSE runs can be found on our website: https://queenswise.ca/ or our Instagram @queenswise.
