Women in STEM Internship

This Women in STEM (WiSTEM) Internship at DeNova is designed to offer early-career women valuable hands-on training and real-world industry experience in biotechnology. Interns will be directly involved in DeNova's R&D efforts, contributing to ongoing scientific projects and supporting the company's mission of developing sustainable protein ingredients for the aquaculture industry.

Through this internship, you will gain exposure to advanced microbial fermentation processes, learn from experienced scientists and engineers, and contribute to real-world research that addresses global challenges in food sustainability.

Core Responsibilities:

• Provide general support to DeNova's R&D team, contributing to various ongoing experiments and research projects.


• Participate in team meetings and bring curiosity and creativity to team discussions.


• Support data collection, data analysis, and reporting to improve process efficiencies.


• Contribute to the organization and maintenance of lab spaces, including washing glassware and sterilizing equipment.


• Observe and assist with lab and pilot fermentation processes, including media preparation, monitoring, and sampling.


• Complete independent research project driving DeNova towards successful commercializations.


• Uphold safety standards, contributing to a culture of safety and good lab practices.

Education:

• Completion of at least two years of post-secondary education in a science, technology, engineering, mathematics, or computation related field.

Commitment:

• Four-month long internship / co-op placement.


• 40 hours per week on site at DeNova’s R&D Headquarters located in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.
