Job Summary:

 

We are looking for a current Data Science Student for a summer internship opportunity.

The Data Science student will work closely with our Chief Clinical Operations to work on clinical data set which will assist in providing insight to inform improvements within CancerCare Manitoba clinical operations. This position will enhance data collection and reporting to include information that is relevant for building clinical analysis including but not limited to:

 

  • Gathering, manipulating, cleaning, and verifying the integrity of data used for clinical analysis
  • Integration of data collection, including time-series data, and clinical/patient-based data sets
  • Debug critical technical issues with data and provide prompt resolutions
  • Highlight technical issues and challenges and propose creative solutions
  • Build metrics, from conception to useful data sets and data pipelines
  • Develop a model or platform for users to enter data
  • Consolidate information from a variety of sources to prepare and construct reports that translate current, relevant research and data with a variety of tools (such as narrative explanations, data illustrations, visual maps, mind maps, and information graphics)
  • Work with large data sets to extract information to be applied to CCMBs operations, business processes and/or organizational change projects or initiatives
  • Create, develop, audit and monitor reports, metrics, indicators and processes

 

Qualifications:

  • Current student in a data science program from an accredited educational institution.
  • Current or previous project management, software developing, and/or business analyst skills and experience are considered assets.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Good scripting and programming skills
  • Data-oriented personality
  • Experience in defining data points, organizing and analyzing data
  • Experience with modeling and/or analysis
  • Experience with organization change projects
  • Experience with a variety of quality assessments, qualitative and quantitative data collection tools, analysis and reporting
  • Experience working with statistical programs
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with clients and internal stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience designing and building metrics, from conception to building prototypes with data pipelines
