Academic Part-time Position We are looking for Part-time Faculty to teach in the Mechanical & Welding Engineering Technology programs at the School of Engineering & Technology for the Fall 2024 semester (September 3, 2024, to December 2024). Areas Of Instruction Include
  • College-level Mathematics for Engineering
  • Math Concepts, Operations, Calculations, and Conversions
Candidates must be able to teach 3 to 6 hours per week. The courses are delivered in person at the Cambridge Fountain Street campus, located at 850 Fountain Street South Cambridge, ON N3H 0A8. Successful candidates will be required to conduct work within Ontario and must be available to work on campus as required. Conestoga offers classes Monday to Sunday from 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m., both in-person and online. Responsibilities
  • Ensure student awareness of course objectives, instructional approach, and evaluation systems
  • Carry out regularly scheduled instruction according to the format prescribed for the course, including as appropriate, classroom, computer-assisted lab lessons, teacher-led, and other instructional techniques
  • Evaluate student progress/achievement, assuming responsibility for the overall assessment of the student's work within the assigned course, and maintain records as required
  • Create and maintain a positive learning environment that supports the diversity of students’ cultures, educational backgrounds, and learning styles
  • Support students in the use of the Learning Management System (D2L), as well as maintaining course materials within this system
  • Collaborate and build relations with other program faculty
Qualifications
  • Three-year Diploma/Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Math, Engineering, Science, or Technology field of study
  • Previous adult or post-secondary level teaching experience is required; Experience teaching mathematics concepts at this level is preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of mathematics concepts (i.e. algebra, geometry, trigonometry, vectors, and linear equations)
  • Experience with using the D2L LMS platform is preferred
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to contribute to and work in a positive team environment
  • Demonstrated ability to relate to learners and foster a positive learning environment among diverse student populations, including international students and students requiring accommodation is an asset
