Architectural Technologist (Part-time)

Department: Facilities & Construction

Location: Calgary, AB (#400, 229 - 33rd Street NE Calgary, Alberta T2A 4Y6)

Type of employment:  Permanent, Part Time (20 hours per week)

THE ROLE

We are currently looking for an Architectural Technologist to join our Western Canada Construction Team. This position is a part-time role (20 hours per week). Reporting to the Construction Project Manager, the Architectural Technologist will be responsible for completing in-house AutoCAD drawings including floor plans, elevations, millwork drawings and equipment schedules. This role will develop and provide support for store drawings, equipment specifications, construction standards, and material specifications. This role will also direct and oversee contractors, plan budgets, develop project schedules, and liaise with various departments internally and provide strong support in all aspects of the construction process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and edit AutoCAD drawings as directed.
  • Prepare layouts, floorplans, elevations and sections as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of drawings and revisions
  • Work closely with Facilities, Merchandising and Operations departments to update drawings as required.
  • Assist in planning and visualization of projects
  • Manage multiple store drawing projects simultaneously as required.
  • Collaborate with Construction field personnel to ensure drawing accuracy and timeliness.
  • Strategize with vendor partners to ensure all equipment specifications are accurate in drawings.
  • Participate in field visits and meetings as requested by management.
  • Survey stores when necessary
  • Promptly and effectively communicate with both internal and external parties.
  • Maintain computer-based filing system for store drawings.
  • Comply with company and department policies and procedures.
  • Support in any special projects, as assigned.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

Education

  • Diploma or certificate in Architectural Technologies, Architectural Drafting or equivalent.

Experience:

  • 2+ years of AutoCAD drafting experience (preferred)

Knowledge and skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret construction or engineering documents
  • Tech-savvy and proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Administrative and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and adapt to busy environment with changing responsibilities, competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of the organization including other departments, contractors, architects and consultants.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Energetic team player with a professional demeanor.
  • Construction and/or retail experience an asset.
