Assistant Teacher, Literacy and Numeracy (Grades 2-3)

Job Description: CFIS is seeking candidates for an Assistant Teachers (Numeracy and Literacy) position in our Elementary Division for the 2024-25 school year, specifically working with students from grade 2 to 3. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: ? Assist in the implementation of numeracy and literacy support.? Assist in the implementation of the daily program and instructional activities.? Work with children individually or in small groups to develop knowledge, skills, and competencies.? Participate in maintaining a safe, clean, welcoming and inclusive classroom environment.? Support children’s ongoing development and growth, in alignment with best practices in French immersion education.? Maintain professional attitudes and loyalty to CFIS.? Participate in professional workshops or courses.? Maintain confidentiality about children, their families, and other employees inside and outside of the school. ? Recess and/or Cafeteria supervision, and? Other duties as needed. If the position is full-time, it will require the employee to work in Before or After School (BAS) programs. Qualifications : ? Early Childhood Education certification with a minimum of Level 1 Child Care Assistant required (or willingness to obtain).? Fluent spoken French is required ; Speaking English would be an asset, and? Valid first-aid certification (or willingness to obtain). Prior experience with children in Grades K-3 is desirable. The successful applicant will need to provide a recent Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening prior to commencing work. Skills, Technical and Behavioural Competencies Required: ? Compensation: ? The position will be paid hourly as per the CFIS hourly pay grid based on relevant education and experience. ? The position is eligible for employee group benefits and the Level 1 – 3% RSP (Retirement Saving Plan) benefit. ? Two (2) weeks off in December, one (1) week off in each February and March, and in the summer when the school is closed.
