Bilingual Fairmont Gold Lounge Attendant (Temporary Part-Time)

Located in the heart of Canada's capital next door to the Parliament Buildings, the landmark Fairmont Chateau Laurier hotel in Ottawa is looking to fill a role of Bilingual Fairmont Gold Lounge Server & Attendant (Temporary Part-Time).

Reporting to the Fairmont Gold Leadership Team, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

• Consistently offer professional, friendly, and engaging service.
• Provide exceptional table service in the Fairmont Gold lounge.
• Identify guest preferences and act on them to develop and maintain strong guest relationships to ensure Fairmont Gold loyalty.
• Assist guests regarding food and beverage menu items. Have knowledge of all menu items, garnishes, contents, and preparation methods.
• Proactively anticipate guests' needs.
• Set up and break down all food and beverage presentations in the lounge (breakfast, coffee/tea service, bar service, and canapés).
• Ensure the lounge is well maintained at all times, including transitioning the ambiance between different food and beverage presentations.
• Ensure the lounge area remains pristine, well-stocked, and up to high standards.
• Clear dishes from guest tables and ensure cleanliness of the lounge and service areas.
• Collaborate with other team members (concierge, front desk) to ensure smooth operations in the lounge.
• Create strong relationships with departments that support Fairmont Gold, primarily the culinary and stewarding departments.
• Extend complimentary services (e.g., drinks) and inform guests of additional offerings when possible.
• Remember and cater to the personal preferences of returning VIP guests.
• Ensure all Fairmont Château Laurier policies, procedures, and corporate Fairmont Gold standards are known, followed, and acted upon at all times.
• Follow all safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverage items.
• Organize and maintain the Fairmont Gold pantry and storage areas to ensure efficiency.
• Assist with inventory control for Fairmont Gold pantry and storage areas (food and liquor).
• Follow all sustainability standards and initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Food and Beverage serving experience with knowledge of high-end dining etiquette required.
• Possess strong verbal communication skills (English and French) for interacting with guests and team members.
• Hold a smart serve certification.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Have experience in a hotel, resort, or luxury setting, especially in guest-facing roles (e.g., concierge, front desk, or lounge service).
• Demonstrate the ability to multitask, including managing guest requests, coordinating with departments, and handling supplies.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism, especially with high-profile guests.
• Be highly responsible and reliable.
• Demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities.
• Be able to work independently while maintaining high service standards.
• Adhere to dress code standards and possess a professional presentation.
• Bartending skills, an asset.

Physical Aspects of Position (included but not limited to):

• Constant standing and walking throughout shift
• Frequent lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs
• Frequent loading, pushing and pulling of luggage carts weighing up to 500 lbs
• Constant kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting
