Job Description - Casual Support Worker - Nights

Position: Casual Support Worker


Schedule: Variable working hours with shifts scheduled between the hours of 8pm and 8am


Compensation: $21.00/hour


About Mountain Plains Community Services Society of the North (MPCSSN):



Established in 1972, MPCSSN is a non-profit organization dedicated to delivering diverse community and family-focused programming tailored to the unique needs of Alberta's Northwest region. We collaborate with Child and Family Services, Recovery Alberta and Alberta Human Services to provide comprehensive support services. Our organization is accredited by CARF International and is a proud member of the ALIGN Association of Community Services and the Children’s Welfare League of Canada.



Role



The role of the Agency Support Worker is to provide and help coordinate person-centered support services. As an Agency support Worker you will be asked to model appropriate behavior and attitudes in a range of settings with a variety of individuals. The role of Agency Support worker requires that the successful candidate assist persons-served to recognize and discover their individuality and creativity, as well as to act as an advocate on persons-served behalf while maintaining the need for confidentiality.



Experience of Supporting Individuals with FASD, Autism and Communication Challenges, and / Or Youth with Identified Behavioral or Mental Health Challenges.

  • Navigate individualized support needs across varied vulnerable populations (developmental disabilities, mental health and behavioural challenges, addiction, etc.)

  • Ensures individuals' physical, medical, emotional, and mental needs are met.

  • Promotes physical and emotional safety for persons-served

  • Provides emotional support and uses a variety of counselling skills as required.

  • Utilize creativity, flexibility, and critical thinking when making decisions.

  • Display attentiveness to details, thoroughness and follow-through.

  • Demonstrate a high level of professionalism.

  • Optimistic and innovative approaches to problem-solving.



Hiring Qualifications



  • Proof of 2+ year completed diploma/degree

  • Valid Driver's License

  • Clear Criminal Record & CYIM Checks

  • Access to a reliable vehicle


Hiring Assets



  • Experience supporting vulnerable populations

  • Standard First AID Certification, including CPR

  • Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training
