Job Description - Field Operator Cold Lake

Job Description

Raise is hiring a  Field Operator - Cold Lake for our client, the third largest producer of Canadian oil and natural gas and the second largest refiner and upgrader with extensive midstream and downstream infrastructure. This position is a one (1)-year contract located in Cold Lake, Alberta. We are actively seeking talented professionals like you to drive these crucial initiatives forward.

Role Accountabilities:

  • Operating and maintaining pipeline facilities at area LACT sites, terminals and various field sites.
  • Understand the regulatory and operating approvals as they pertain to our facility including materials that can be accepted at the facilities.
  • Scala data inputs, truck ticket tracking and regular communication to the customers and transportation dispatch.
  • Monitor truck scale for accurate operation.
  • Filing of facility waste approvals, truck tickets and other facility specific data.
  • Communicating with field operators, helping develop and maintain customer relations at the facility level.
  • Assist in the repair and maintenance of equipment.
  • Perform control of work and energy isolations.
  • Initiating work notifications for the maintenance group to sustain safe operations.
  • Perform sampling of all products, test density, temperature and BS&W.
  • Able to perform station truck unloading duties and ensure the terminal operates within HMGP’s standards.
  • Consistently demonstrate a continuous improvement mindset and determine alternative solutions for operational issues in a safe, cost effect and sustainable manner.
  • Provide technical support for planning and scheduling work.
  • Provide onsite direction, training and mentorship for the team.
  • Complete periodic reviews of existing tasks and ensure procedures are up to date.
  • Assist in developing additional site-specific procedures and THA’s as needed to ensure work can be performed safely.
  • Role Deliverables:

  • Inspect daily the operating facilities within the area of responsibility.
  • Maintain a log of operating activities / conditions at site.
  • Respond to shutdowns and alarms at facilities, either solving the problem or calling in appropriate maintenance support personnel.
  • Perform checks on product quality.
  • SCE (Safety Critical Element), Regulatory, and Compliance inspections and checks are completed in a timely matter.
  • Enter any notifications on issues found.
  • Initiate work requests and callouts to Maintenance personnel to sustain operations.
  • Issue work authorization / hazard assessments to maintenance and construction personnel working in the operating facility.
  • Identify root causes and/or solutions for abnormal situations, provide suggestions for improvement.
  • Provide point of contact for internal marketing representatives, fluid haulers and fluid dispatch.
  • Provide field supervision of third-party truckers
  • Participate in the design reviews and HAZOPs for capital and maintenance projects.
  • Interface with Construction site representatives to coordinate work in operating areas.
  • Assist with commissioning of new facilities and assist with construction activities as required (co-ordination of shutdowns, preparing equipment for turnover to Construction, etc.)
  • Immediately report, enter, and manage Intelex items for any safety incidents or near misses that occur. Input inspections and audits as well as develop the actions that come out of these items.
  • Develop and execute work plans for small and big work outages. (Build the isolation, drain down, LOTO scopes of work, and procedures). There is the possibility that you may run the tasks as well.
  • Qualifications:

  • Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • High level of attention to detail, with demonstrated troubleshooting skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong organizational, time management and leadership skills
  • Self-motivated and the ability to function and excel with limited supervision and in a team environment.
  • Ability to work shift work including weekends and holidays and being on-call during shift.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interface positively with the local community and multiple support teams within HMGP.
  • Accountable and result oriented.
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license.
  • Additional Information:

  • Role is 70% field based 30% office based
  • This position is for local candidates only as there is no camp allowance.
  • Schedule is 8 days on, 6 off. 10 hours day
  • This role requires truck for site visits to various wellsite and other integrated field assets. There would be a Monthly Truck allowance for this.
