As the primary point of contact upon guest arrival, the host / hostess is mainly responsible for greeting and seating guests in a friendly, professional and efficient manner. Communication and coordination abilities are paramount when noting and treating any intricate guess requests. The host / hostess always pays close attention to detail and is the liaison between guests and FOH/BOH staff to ensure a seamless guest experience that is synonymous with Milos standards.
· Welcomes and greets guests as they enter; ensures a smooth flow at the entrance and throughout the restaurant at all times
· Makes guests feel comfortable while waiting; escorts them to the bar or directly to their table
· Checks-in, stores and retrieves outerwear and assorted personal belongings for guests
· Takes part in pre-service duties and applicable closing duties, prints menus, updates and prints shift summary notes
· Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations and responds confidently to guest inquiries
· Exhibits familiarity with menus items and ingredients
· Answers phone calls and provides information on reservations, availability, restaurant hours and services
· Acts as a Milos brand ambassador; undertakes all duties and responsibilities while upholding core company values
· Ensures proper levels of stationary are maintained in reception area at all time
· Interacts with guests as they leave the restaurant to ensure a memorable experience
· A minimum of one (1) year experience in an upscale dining setting
· Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
· Strong written and verbal communication skills
· Able to work in a fast-pace, team environment
· Able to multi-task, is receptive to feedback and direction
· Knowledge of POS and reservation systems (an asset)
