Kitchen Helper - Part Time

KITCHEN HELPER

THE ROLE

Shawnigan Lake School is looking for enthusiastic and reliable staff to join our awesome kitchen team! We have part-time Kitchen Helper positions for those who would enjoy working in a fast-paced, friendly environment, providing a first-rate dining experience for our students, staff and other School guests. Shifts are scheduled on a weekly basis for daytime, evenings, and weekends.

Our part time Kitchen Helper positions offer a wage of $20.70 per hour.

Reporting to the Director of Food Services and the Food Services Manager, the tasks of the Kitchen Helper include:

• Washing glassware, cutlery, plate ware, pots, and pans


• Setting of dining hall


• Sweeping, mopping, and general cleaning duties


• Removal of compost, recycling, and garbage


• Light kitchen prep duties; helping Cooks when needed


• Other kitchen related duties as needed

REQUIREMENTS

• Legally entitled to work in Canada


• Good communication skills


• Once trained, able to work independently and to handle all aspects of the role without on-going direction, while knowing when to seek help


• Self-motivated, with the ability to deal with minor problems or variances to routine


• Ability to consistently meeting the physical demands of the position


• Ability to perform manual tasks through long periods of standing, lifting, bending, twisting, reaching, and grasping


• Capable of lifting pots, pans, dishes and other items up to 50 lbs.


• A positive attitude and skilled at working in a team


• FOODSAFE Level 1 and WHMIS certifications are considered assets
