The Maintenance Team Supervisor works closely with the Senior Maintenance Coordinator and is responsible for providing supervision, mentorship, and support to the maintenance team. This role focuses on fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment by guiding staff in their day-to-day responsibilities, promoting professional development and ensuring alignment with COHO’s service standards.
The Maintenance Team Supervisor will offer practical guidance and leadership to team members, helping them navigate service delivery challenges and improve their effectiveness. The Supervisor plays a key role in building team capacity and contributing to the overall success of COHO Management Services Society through strong staff engagement and support.
This is a temporary, part-time supervisory role with a minimum duration of 3 months. The role requires 7 to 10 hours of work per week, in addition to the employee’s regular duties. These hours will be dedicated specifically to staff supervision and team support. Once the successful candidate is selected, their schedule will be reviewed and adjusted to accommodate these additional responsibilities.
Training & Mentorship
Train and mentor Maintenance Coordinators to improve their planning, scheduling and service delivery
Coordinate with the Senior Maintenance Coordinator on administrative process such scheduling, documentation and internal communications to support the maintenance team
Provide staff support by streamlining workflows, ensuring timely access to resources, and facilitating effective information sharing across the team
Identify training gaps and recommend or develop targeted training programs
Support onboarding of new maintenance staff and ensure consistent understanding of COHO’s standards
Supervision & Team Support
Provide operational guidance and mentorship to Maintenance Coordinators to enhance their effectiveness and professional growth
Evaluate staff performance and offer constructive feedback to support continuous learning and address areas of concern
Deliver quarterly performance reports and contribute to performance improvement plans
Collaborate with team members to set clear goals, monitor progress, and implement development plans that align with COHO’s service standards
Coordinate with the Senior Maintenance Coordinator to ensure workloads are balanced across the team
Develop and maintain detailed reports on team performance to support accountability and staff development
Other

Knowledge, Skill & Abilities
Professional business manner
7+ years’ experience of co-op housing property/building maintenance
Highly organized, with excellent planning and time management skills
Reliable, accurate and detail-oriented
Proactive and resourceful, with strong problem solving and decision-making abilities
Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills, demonstrating tact, integrity and patience
Able to build meaningful relationships with a diverse range of personalities
Experienced with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and general computer proficiency
Strong written and verbal English skills, including proofreading
Knowledge of housing co-ops and related governance structures
Maintains confidentiality and exercises sound judgement
Adaptable and open to change, with the confidence to take initiative and explore new approaches
Working Conditions
The role requires the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Flexibility is essential, as priorities may shift based of team needs and operational demands
Work will be performed at the COHO head office in collaboration with the Director of Management Services
