Location: Smiths Falls, ON
Wage: $21.48/hour
Employment Type: Part-Time
Schedule: Week 1 – Sat/Sun (6:30 PM – 12:30 AM) | Week 2 – Fri/Sat/Sun (6:30 PM – 12:30 AM)
Overtime Method: Averaging Agreement (AA) after 88 hours

As a Security Guard at Lanark County Mental Health, you will play a key role in maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming atmosphere for all. This position is ideal for individuals with strong communication skills, situational awareness, and a genuine desire to serve their community.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a visible, professional presence and provide assistance to staff, visitors, and patients.
• Perform interior and exterior patrols to ensure safety and compliance with site policies.
• Respond promptly to incidents, alarms, and emergencies with sound judgment and calm demeanor.
• Enforce access control, site regulations, and hospital safety procedures.
• Conduct lock/unlock duties, complete safety inspections, and maintain accurate daily logs.
• Prepare detailed reports of incidents, observations, and activities.
• Collaborate effectively with healthcare staff, management, and law enforcement when required.

Must Have Requirements

• Valid Ontario Security Guard License.
• Valid First Aid & CPR – Level C Certificate (WSIB-approved provider).
• Valid G2 class driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
• Ability to be clean-shaven to pass an N95 Mask Fit Test.
• Proof of COVID-19 vaccination (minimum two doses).
• Completed immunizations for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and a clear TB test.
• Minimum 6-month commitment to availability.
• Fluency in English (oral & written); bilingualism (English/French) an asset.
• Legally authorized to work in Canada.

Nice-to-Have

• Minimum 6 months of experience in healthcare or non-healthcare security.
• Customer service experience (6+ months) is an asset.
• Certifications in Use of Force (UoF) and Management of Aggressive Behaviour (MOAB) preferred.
• Applicants without these may complete Paladin’s UoF/MOAB training prior to onboarding.
• Training is unpaid, but fully covered by Paladin with a 6-month position commitment.
