Responsibilities

As a Part-Time Security Guard at Ouellette Hospital, you will play an essential role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and hospital staff.

• Patrol Hospital Grounds: Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, entrances, and patient rooms to ensure safety and security.
• Access Control: Monitor and control entry points, verifying authorization to restricted areas.
• Screening & Inspection: Inspect bags, cargo, and passengers using approved equipment or manual procedures.
• Customer Service: Greet and assist visitors, providing directions and enforcing hospital protocols with professionalism.
• Conflict Resolution: De-escalate tense situations calmly and respectfully.
• Incident Documentation: Accurately complete reports on daily activities, incidents, and security breaches.
• Collaboration: Work closely with hospital staff, local law enforcement, and first responders as needed.
• Policy Enforcement: Ensure compliance with hospital safety and visitor policies while maintaining a professional demeanor.

• Diploma in Police Foundations, Protection, Security & Investigations, Border Services, or Criminology (or currently enrolled in one of these programs).
• Valid Security License for the province of Ontario.
• Valid First Aid & CPR – Level C (from a WSIB-approved vendor).
• Proof of immunization for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and a two-step TB skin test.
• Proof of two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.
• English (oral and written) fluency.
• Must be able to provide Use of Force (UoF) and Management of Aggressive Behaviour (MOAB) certifications.
• Applicants lacking these certifications can complete Paladin’s UoF/MOAB program prior to onboarding.
• Training costs are covered by Paladin with a 6-month commitment to the position.
• Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
