Personal Support Worker (PSW) for Adolescent High Risk Behavior Clients

We have 4  PSW vacancies for high behavior adolescent Community Clients in the Orillia area to provide care. Shifts may vary from mornings to evenings and every other weekend. Must have experience with behaviors. High behaviors including punching, kicking, biting, non verbal aggression and exit seekers.

• 4 hour shift minimum 

The successful candidate’s areas of responsibility will include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Provide personal care
• Transportation required for day outings, shopping or take to medical app
• Providing cognitive, social, emotional, and spiritual support with deep understanding of individual care plans. 
• Provide behavior support and crisis intervention- important to be successful in position
• Maintaining open communication with client and their family
• Understanding what NOT to do, to avoid triggers. 
• Monitoring care plan and adding documentation with any changes and updates daily
• Responding to all emergency situations
• All other duties, as assigned

Key qualifications for this position will include, but are not limited to:

• PSW certification is required
• Valid First Aid/CPR certificate
• Completion of a Police Vulnerable Sector Check within last 6 months
• CPI training is an asset**
• Safe Management
• Drivers License and own insured vehicle required
• Satisfactory professional references x2
• Ability to accurately follow written and verbal instructions
• Must be able to anticipate problems and use sound judgment and tact in handling confidential matters
