Position:  Pharmacist


Employment Type:  Part Time (20 hours per week)


Vacancy Status:  NEW position


Salary Range:  $59.08-$64.55 per hour


Working Location:  Hybrid (Virtual/In-person at all Maamwesying sites)

Who we are? We are a leader in First Nation Health. Our foundation is Indigenous Health in Indigenous Hands. We provide accessible, quality, culturally safe and holistic health care that supports and enhances the wellness of individuals, families, and communities. We work with our 11 First Nation community partners and the Indigenous Friendship Centre in Sault Ste. Marie in the provision of primary health care, traditional healing, mental wellness and addictions, home and community support services, and health promotion services.


 


The opportunity: The Pharmacist provides comprehensive, patient-centered pharmaceutical care within an Indigenous primary care setting. This role supports holistic health and wellness by integrating clinical expertise with culturally safe, trauma-informed, and community-driven approaches. The Pharmacist works collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to improve health outcomes and promote wellness among Indigenous patients, families, and communities.



What you need to bring with you: 


Required:



  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD).

  • Licensed (or eligible for licensure) with the relevant provincial regulatory body.

  • Authorization to prescribe (or willingness to obtain), where applicable.

  • Strong clinical knowledge in primary care.


Preferred:



  • Experience working in Indigenous health or underserved communities.

  • Knowledge of Indigenous cultures, histories, and health frameworks.

  • Training in cultural safety, trauma-informed care, or harm reduction.

  • Experience with programs such as Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB).

  • Commitment to cultural safety, humility, and reconciliation.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.

  • Flexibility, adaptability, and respect for diverse perspectives.

  • Problem-solving and critical thinking skills in complex care environments.

What to expect?


Given the traditional practices of Indigenous people, from time-to-time exposure to smoke from the burning of sacred medicines such as tobacco, sweet grass, sage or cedar may occur.
