Hiring Unit:

Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences

Position Summary:

• Conduct research on the generation of carbonatite magmas using the Perple_X software package
• Assess whether the melting of quartzofeldspathic gneiss can generate rocks of carbonatitic composition through melting and/or assimilation reactions

Qualifications:

Extensive knowledge in…

• the geochemistry of alkaline/carbonatite-hosted REE and/or Nb deposits
• the genesis of intrusive alkaline/carbonatite complexes
• geologic processes that may modify these complexes, particularly with respect to REE/Nb enrichment

Experience and Education:

• PhD in the geochemistry of alkaline/carbonatite-hosted REE and/or Nb deposits an asset
