Job Description - Technical Project Delivery Leader

We are looking for a Technical Project/Delivery Manager for a permanent (or contract to permanent) role  in  Calgary, Alberta.   Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

Hybrid schedule, 8 hours a day, 40 hours a week. Some travel to the U.S. required every few months. It is NOT a remote role.

Our client is on the hunt for an experienced Technical Project/Delivery Manager with a strong technical background and solid understanding of data analytics and business intelligence projects. Responsible for delivering and enabling a best-in-class SaaS product and underlying data foundation for large enterprise clients. The successful candidate will bring enterprise delivery experience across a variety of disciplines including customer-facing business areas, enabling business units, and technology.

With the goal of optimizing internal delivery capacity while driving customer satisfaction, the Senior Delivery/Project Manager will play a critical role in ensuring delivery timeline expectations are met and that key risks are surfaced, mitigated, and managed with the Product and Engineering teams.

Role Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Account Management and Strategic Growth teams at an appropriate cadence, applying best in class program management methodologies.
  • Collaborate closely with a dedicated Delivery team to stand up and enable core products for enterprise clients.
  • Work closely with our Engineering and Product teams to address issues, identify opportunities, and remove all blockers preventing on-time delivery.
  • Plan and manage multiple concurrent projects, for existing and new customers.
  • Attend and participate in quarterly meetings with senior leaders and executives to discuss project outcomes, objectives, and key results.
  • Develop precise delivery scope statements and timelines, define role responsibilities and performance metrics, and oversee all internal and external stakeholders across various product lines against the scope to be delivered. Align scope with available product and engineering capabilities, project plans, and roadmaps.
  • Provide leadership for an Agile project team by building and motivating team members to meet project goals, adhering to their responsibilities and project milestones.
  • Identify and manage key risks (technical and business) to ensure project success.
  • Work collaboratively with project teams including Product, Engineering and Project leaders.
  • Distill complex requirements , challenges, or proposed solutions into well-defined paths forward . Proactively address any internal obstacles and consistently drive all stakeholders to meet their commitments consistently and timely.
  • Communicate product needs and customer milestones and manage senior stakeholders against key dependencies.
  • Report to the Business Unit Leaders and Executive team members on milestone progress, accountability performance, impediment removal and mitigation progress.
  • Create communication and change management plans to support project implementation life cycle.

  • Required Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or post-secondary diploma in Business, Computer Science, or Engineering, or equivalent education and/or project management experience
  • Very strong communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Strong understanding of PMLC and SDLC, data service architecture and project management frameworks.
  • 5-10 years of Program/Project Manager experience on a minimum of 2 mid to large-scale projects at an enterprise level.
  • Strong leadership skills – inspire and lead to delivery. Effective collaboration and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to mentor and coach more junior team members. .
  • At least 3 years of experience working in a technical capacity in data engineering, software development, or technical/solution/data service architecture.
  • Demonstrated experience in driving decision-making and problem-solving across multiple client departments, including IT, Infosec, Leadership, and Business stakeholders.
  • Extensive experience with executive and senior stakeholders - strong facilitation skills with these groups to drive commitments and decision making.
  • Ability to be an effective “trusted advisor/coach” with customer organizations.
  • Ability to implement programs, operational models, and RACI frameworks effectively.
  • Experience with software and data integration, including data cleanup and data integrity management.
  • Familiarity with cloud technology, specifically AWS / GCP.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Business process analysis and design experience.
  • Strong experience with Agile.

  • Experience working for a SaaS organization or software vendor.

  • Strategic and creative thinker.
  • High level of initiative/self-drive. Likes working in an empowered and challenging environment.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Project Management designation including PMP or ACP.
  • Familiarity with JIRA / DOMO / SAP / Google Suite.
