Job Description - Research assistant in multimodal machine learning at Steno Diabetes Center Aarhus, Aarhus University

Steno Diabetes Center Aarhus (SDCA) is recruiting a full-time (37h/week) research assistant for a time limited position for 12 months and starting date is September 1st 2024.

Job Description
SDCA brings together all aspects of diabetes treatment, clinical diabetes research and education under the same roof, thereby offering more integrated treatment in an environment with world-class scientists and physicians.

We are seeking a highly motivated research assistant to assist the establishment of multimodal data collection and analysis pipelines at the Machine Learning & Clinical Prediction Lab at SDCA. These tasks may include, but are not limited to, preparing regular reports on the latest developments in multimodal machine learning, pre-processing and analysis of data, and drafting protocols for future studies. The applicant should have hands-on experience with both health data and data science.

Selection criteria

  • Qualifications at Master’s degree in data science, machine learning, AI, or a related field (completed at the time of employment)
  • An analytical mindset
  • Experience with multimodal data (voice, ECG data is an advantage)
  • Programming experience in Python incl. data science libraries (e.g. PyTorch, Scikit-Learn)
  • A genuine interest for the latest developments in artificial intelligence
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal (international experience is an advantage)
  • Research experience is an advantage (e.g. scientific publication, conference participation)
  • An enthusiastic, dedicated and collaborative attitude

Relationships

  • The holder of the position will be responsible to and primarily report to Adam Hulman, Senior Data Scientist and leader of the Machine Learning & Clinical Prediction Lab at SDCA
  • The holder of the position is expected to interact with staff at all levels, both internally and externally, regarding relevant research topics

Employment Conditions
The successful candidate will be employed at SDCA. SDCA is part of Aarhus University Hospital in Central Denmark Region. Place of employment will for the present be at Aarhus University Hospital. Salary is in accordance with current agreement.
