Data Engineer

We are looking for a Data Engineer who will join our efforts to sustain and further advance our ambition to become a global healthcare leader powered by data, analytics, and digital technologies – and drive change to help defeat diabetes and other chronic diseases.

The position
As we have embarked on a transformation journey to build our Next Generation Data Infrastructure, we need a data engineer drive setting up the right data model across different data modalities considering both structured and less structured data types in high volumes. The infrastructure will cater for streaming analytics and FAIR data principles. With an ambitious vision to grow our activities 10X over the coming years we need to re-think how we enable a data seamless flow across clinical system ultimately enabling innovative medicines to patients faster and in the right quality. The program is anchored within Data Science in the Development organisation in Novo Nordisk (NN).
As a Data Engineer, you will be part of outlining the clinical data flows for primary use of data. This includes establishing cloud-based data pipelines across data modalities and ensuring implementation of clear and scalable data models/ontologies with a user focus in mind.
You will use your innovative thinking to drive new ways of continuously improve how we collect and utilise data throughout the business. Naturally, you will apply an adequate quality framework ensuring compliance to regulation/applicable law.
Qualifications
• You hold a Ph.D., M.Sc. degree – within software engineering, computer science, data science, mathematics, natural sciences or similar
• Several years of work experience in either cloud, data engineering or IT Infrastructure
• Strong technical skills in developing scalable data pipelines
• Expertise in clinical data standards, either in a real-world data setting, clinical trial data standards and similar
You have experience in and/or knowledge of some or most of the below listed technologies/ standards:
• Data lineage and ontologies
• Amazon Web Services
• CDISC (SDTM & ADaM), OMOP, DICOM and similar clinical data standards
• Infrastructure as code
• Object Oriented Design
• Python / Scala
• Databricks Delta Lake
• Security and Authentication
• API development (JSON, XML)
• SQL
In this position we expect that you can lead your peers, as well as collaborate with a diverse group of people and provide mentoring and guidance for more junior colleagues. The department
You will join the growing Data Science Strategic & Digital Development team. The department is anchored in Data Science (Development) with 800+ employees – across Denmark, Spain, India, and North America, delivering to the wide Novo Nordisk Development pipeline. You will be part of a larger program organisation with cross-functional team members, all working closely together towards our shared vision of transforming our data infrastructure to the benefit of patients in need for innovative treatment solutions.
