Are you interested in the organization of the Danish Emergency Health Care system during the COVID-19 pandemic? The Department of Management at Aarhus University, School of Business and Social Sciences, invites candidates to apply for a position as research assistant. The position is full-time employment of 5 months, and the successful candidate is expected to take up the appointment from 1 May 2023 or subject to mutual agreement. There may be a possibility for an extension and a further opportunity to apply for a PhD. The research assistant will work in the areas of organization design. She/he will work closely together with assistant professor Iben Duvald and the rest of the interdisciplinary Research Network DESIGN-EM, which consists of researchers from Department of Management and Research Center for Emergency Medicine. We can offer a strong research group, and a collaborative, supportive and friendly environment with a high level of professionalism. The project the research assistant will work on is a project in collaboration with Italy. The Covid-19 pandemic has affected healthcare systems and patient safety worldwide. So far, published research on organizational changes and their possible clinical consequences during Covid-19 is sparse. To be well prepared for a new pandemic or future crises affecting healthcare, it is crucial to evaluate the efforts and learning embedded in handling the pandemic. The project's objective is to analyze the organizational steps at various levels in two acute health care systems, and analyze the clinical consequences on flow and patient safety. The position will include qualitative data collection, especially documents, and data analysis. Qualification requirements
The qualification requirement for appointment as research assistant is at least a Master's degree within a relevant discipline, with strong qualitative skills and an interest in/knowledge about organization theory. Thus, it is an advantage, if the candidate has experience with qualitative data collection and analysis.
The ideal applicant will be highly motivated and able to work in a structured and systematic manner. Capable of working independently as well as in teams is another important requirement. Due to the composition of the position, we require fluent spoken and written Danish as well as English. The data material will be in Danish. The project consists of more phases. The research assistant will work on the first phase. However, we expect that the next phase of the project will include an opportunity for the research assistant to continue working on the project by applying for a ph.d.-position within organization design.
