Welcome to Corporate Legal and M&A/Integration
The Corp. Legal and M&A function is part of the overall Legal function in Novonesis which counts approx. 60 employees world-wide. Reliance and cross functional interaction as well as a proactive and dynamic working environment characterize the Legal function. The Legal function supports the entire Novonesis organization across the world with all major legal matters.

Join us as Legal Business Partner to Global Operations
As out new Legal Business Partner your primary responsibility will be to act as a legal business partner to Global Operations in general and Global Manufacturing, Global Engineering, Global Supply Chain and Global Procurement in particular.

You can look forward to a very dynamic role acting as a legal strategic sparring partner to Global Operations, where you will be acting as a strong link between external as well as internal stakeholders.

The role will include responsibility for:

  • Contract negotiation, contract interpretation and dispute resolution within construction law and certain commercial related matters including sourcing, maintenance, finance, logistic, IT, real estate and energy related contracts
  • Liaising with relevant functions and stakeholders both internally and externally
  • Drafting, maintaining and developing global contract templates primarily within the areas of Global Engineering (construction) and Sourcing.
  • Manage outside counsel for Global Operations when appropriate, reviewing and evaluating the advice received and combining with internal input and act as link between the business and outside counsel
  • Responsible for ensuring strong cross-functional collaboration and alignment on all matters relating to Global Operations legal activities such as CAPEX projects, Sourcing and Finance.
  • Drive identification and development of relevant initiatives in the Global Operations legal area with a global oversight of local templates and legal procedures used by Global Operations with the possibilities of influence the procedures going forward.

In this role you will be interacting across the broad Novonesis organization, cooperating with internal and external stakeholders globally. You will report to Christel May-Worre, Head of Corp. Legal and M&A. Flexible workplace is possible with home office days.

To succeed you must hold:
You hold a master’s degree in law (cand.jur. or equivalent) or commercial law (cand.merc.jur or equivalent) and you have at least 7 years of experience as an external lawyer or inhouse legal counsel. Multi-disciplinary law experience and experience in working with financial agreements, energy agreements and/or FIDIC is an advantage, backed by experience in working with big projects.

You have:

  • A “go fix” attitude with strong stakeholder management capability.
  • The ability to understand a construction project lifetime from early project planning and design through construction and commissioning to the operation of the new facility and with this insight being capable to suggest, discuss and prepare for optimal contractual solutions to secure a successful project with no cost overruns, delays or quality issues limiting the intended performance of the facilities;
  • The ability to understand the legal and political landscape around the utilities needed for productions.
  • A strong understanding of the key commercial drivers in a complex projects, including the key commercial drivers in the project investment case such as e.g., early operation vs. delay damages, schedule and critical path, long lead items and other critical supply chain issues, commissioning and operation of a new build plant, link between design, construction and operation & maintenance, quality requirements and key performance securities from the contractor and key suppliers and payment guarantees from the employer;
  • An interest in developing other related legal capabilities within commercial sourcing contracts, IT or finance related agreements.

As part of a high paced growth environment, you will need a go fix attitude and a solid professional foundation as well as strong business acumen. Furthermore, you must thrive in a dynamic setup and you need to be energetic, highly autonomous and passionate about working interdisciplinary with law and with different stakeholders – internal and external – and at the same time be a strong team player. This also requires excellent communication skills in English, written and spoken.
