At Orbex we are looking for AIT Lead to oversee assembly, integration and test activities of our liquid propulsion systems. You will work closely with our in-house team of propulsion engineers, project management, quality and manufacturing to develop state-of-the-art engines and be part of Orbex’ effort to our first launch.
The Position
Key responsibilities of the role
Oversee and direct multiskilled team of welders and technicians, ensuring timely delivery of our propulsion systems production
Improve and develop Standard Operating Procedures, to ensure quality, safety and compliance with industry standards
Enhance quality system compliance through process improvements and cross-functional collaboration, resulting in zero quality-related issues in engine assembly
Implement procedures and maintain safe working practices and cleanliness in the AIT cleanroom and welding areas
Schedule and help facilitate all of the AIT activities, including integration and testing
Support you team in daily tasks involving cleaning to inspection, through to assembly, integration tests, equipment maintenance and documentation
Provide training and guidance to your team as well as optimising workflows, resolving technical issues and ensuring availability of consumables
Collaborate with Quality and Engineering teams, to Implement and develop technical documentation and best practices
Qualifications and Experience
Experience in the development and production of aerospace components, that includes delicate mechanical assemblies
Knowledge and understanding of mechanical and fluidic system
Experience in writing technical documentation (SOP, requirements specifications, P&I Diagrams, ICD, etc.) and test procedures
Familiarity with cleaning and working with oxygen systems, applicable in a cleanroom environment
Familiarity with aerospace cleanliness standards, pressure systems safety protocols, and leak detection techniques
Desirable experience and traits:
Background in space or related industries for device assembly
University degree from relevant fields such as Aerospace, Space Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering etc
