Job Description:

Are you an experienced procurement professional with a strong technical background and technical procurement? Do you want to play a key role in building a sustainable future with one of Europe’s leading biogas companies?


Area of responsibilities and tasks
We are looking for an ambitious Category Manager with technical knowledge to execute the operational support and ensure commercial, technical and procurement strategies. Together with the Asset Management & Procurement Team, you will be responsible for securing timely delivery of support from our suppliers, developing and executing procurement and service strategies for defined areas and categories of technical components and spare parts used in Asset Management. You will collaborate closely with Asset Management, engineering, project, and operations teams across Denmark and France to ensure partnerships with solid and accountable suppliers of high-quality components and services.


You will play a key role in bridging Asset Management and Procurement to secure agreements that optimize plant uptime and reliability.


Allocation of your tasks and responsibilities
• Lead strategy development and execution
• Prepare and manage tenders within Asset Management, including negotiations and contract finalization
• Ensure components meet technical specifications and quality standards
• Manage supplier relationships and performance (quality, cost, delivery)
• Establish framework agreements and service/spare part strategies
• Drive supplier and supply chain development to ensure scalability, resilience, and innovation
• Support day-to-day operations and performance evaluations of supply chain
• Identify and qualify new suppliers and consolidate the current supply chain
• Ensure compliance with procurement policies and sustainability goals
• Act as a trusted advisor and sparring partner for your categories
• Support Shell integration initiatives by embedding Shell Low Carbon Solutions principles into procurement strategies.


As a Category Manager, you will become part of the Procurement function with main focus on our Asset Management that also acts as the partner for other internal departments to establish a competitive supply chain and performance criteria and to add value for both the operation of the plants and support the right solutions for construction of industrial large-scale biogas plants.

Your workplace is in our office in Aarhus, however, we do require 2 days per week in Odense, where our Asset Management team is located, and you will over time also visit our plants in operation to secure the operation. You can expect approx. 10 days of European travel per year.


What we need from you
We are looking for a strategic and technically proficient procurement professional with a strong commercial and technical mindset and a passion for driving value through collaboration.


To succeed in this role, you should have:

• A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or a technical education or,
• A professional career that has equipped you with the right foundation to manage complex supply chains and drive strategic procurement initiatives
• 10+ years of experience in component procurement, ideally within project-based or large-scale industrial companies
• A proven ability to navigate matrix organizations and build strong relationships with both internal stakeholders and external suppliers
• Solid experience in managing complex contract negotiations and developing sustainable category strategies
• A structured, analytical, and self-driven mindset with a strong focus on quality and long-term value creation


As Shell LCS Biogas operates internationally, fluency in both English and Danish is required, as the role involves cross-border collaboration across functions and organizational levels.
