Chief Technology Specialist, Arla Foods Ingredients - Aarhus

Join our Technology team as our internal advisor on how to design production processes at our factories, and become a key influencer representing Supply Chain in R&D projects, feasibility studies and new partnerships, ensuring that our production processes meet world-class standards and implementing strategic initiatives.

How you will make an impact
As our new Chief Technology Specialist, you will play a key role in defining and implementing process technology for ingredients production and processes on AFI sites globally. You’ll combine your process and process design expertise with a deep understanding of food manufacturing to guide decisions and optimize production lines. Your work will involve close collaboration with AFI R&D and CAPEX project managers, Supply Chain strategy and Business development, suppliers, and the production teams across the AFI Supply Chain network.

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Drive Technical Feasibility studies and strategic analysis from a Supply Chain perspective in close collaboration with Business Development when acquisitions or new partnerships are being considered.


• Develop and maintain processing standards for processing systems, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and company objectives.


• Provide a holistic Supply Chain perspective to R&D and other projects by bringing knowledge of general whey processing, membrane technology, and/or chromatography as applied in advanced food production and protein drying, including understanding the related microbiology, quality and food safety aspects, into the projects from their early stages and until implementation.


• Support CAPEX project managers with technical expertise during project development, tendering, and project execution.


• Collaborate globally with suppliers and internal teams to ensure successful implementation of new process technology, best practices, optimizations and new whey suppliers or Third Party Manufacturing sites.


• Partner with other functions (Quality, R&D, Sustainability) to integrate process technical requirements, efficiency and other Supply Chain perspectives into development and major CAPEX projects.


• Drive continuous improvement and explore digital tools to enhance efficiency and collaboration.


• Travel to production sites to provide on-site support and ensure compliance with standards.

The role is based in our global headquarters in Aarhus, and will require shorter travels to our growing network of sites and partners in Europe, Argentina and US.

What will make you successful
We are looking for a process engineer (preferably with a dairy or food background) who thrives in a global, project-driven environment. To succeed in this role, you should have:

• A degree in Engineering (Dairy, Food, Process, Biotechnology or related field).


• 10+ years of experience in industrial equipment design, process development, or process engineering - preferably in food or dairy processing.


• Strong writing skills and ability to communicate complex concepts clearly.


• Global mindset with cultural openness and ability to work in diverse teams.


• Excellent collaboration skills - you enjoy sharing knowledge and guiding others.


• Curiosity and willingness to adopt digital tools for smarter ways of working.


• Mobility for international travel.
