Lead Bioprocess Scientist at Cellerator

We are seeking a technically skilled Lead Bioprocess Scientist to join the Novo Nordisk Foundation Cellerator Process and Analytical Sciences department.

The job

In this role, you will leverage your expertise in bioprocess development to drive robust, scalable cell therapy manufacturing processes from early R&D to clinical readiness.

• Act as a technical authority in bioprocess development, providing expert guidance across upstream and downstream unit operations.

• Lead the design, execution, and interpretation of bioprocess development studies, including scale-up and scale-down models.

• Contribute to the development and application of integrated data models, working closely with data scientists to advance modern, data-enabled approaches to process development.

• Maintain hands-on involvement in critical experimental work where scientific judgement and experience add the greatest value.

• Collaborate closely with Analytical Development to define process understanding, control strategies, and data-driven decision making.

• Co-create development programs with client project teams by translating development needs into practical, scalable bioprocess solutions, while engaging with new biologies and emerging therapeutic concepts.

• Drive platform and technology development to strengthen Cellerator’s bioprocess capabilities and service offerings.

• Report directly to CTO, Sarah Callens, and contribute to strategic project deliver

About you

You’re comfortable taking a hands‑on approach while still providing clear strategic technical guidance. You bring a sharp analytical mindset and use data actively to shape processes and drive development decisions. You communicate clearly and work naturally across multidisciplinary teams, building strong collaboration along the way.

You bring more than 10 years of experience in bioprocess development across cell‑based therapies, gene therapies, biologics, and other advanced modalities, with deep expertise in upstream processing and related downstream steps, a strong track record in designing scalable processes, and solid experience working within GMP environments, supporting clinical programs, and applying modern analytical and monitoring technologies.
