AUT's Business School has a reputation as a leading provider of innovative postgraduate and undergraduate business education, with strong links to business, employers and professional bodies. Our programmes include a very successful Bachelor of Business, research and coursework masters degrees, an MBA and PhD. 

The Department of Economics and Finance has a strong research orientation, built on success in publishing in well-ranked international journals and having an applied focus. It provides teaching into undergraduate majors and postgraduate research specialisations in both Economics and Finance, as well as professional/conversion masters degrees in Finance. We provide good research support and have access to major databases. Finance colleagues can work closely with the Auckland Centre for Financial Research ( ).

We are looking for up to two Lecturers for permanent, full-time positions with a focus on research and teaching. These roles are best suited to early career academics with a new PhD. You'll teach courses as assigned by the Head of Department and have an open, engaging and collaborative attitude that is flexible to changing requirements. It is expected that the successful candidates will seek external research funding, engage with business, the professions and the community, and contribute to Departmental/Business School activities. 

Key skills and experience we are seeking:

• Qualifications: We are specifically looking for candidates who have recently received, or will soon complete, their PhD in Finance.
• Research: Interests in sustainability, investment management or research with a strong social impact orientation. Candidates should have demonstrated potential to publish in well ranked international journals and have an established pipeline of working papers.
• Teaching: Previous university lecturing experience is required.
• It is essential applicants also have one of, or both, of the following:
  • Lecturing experience of household finance and evidence of prior involvement in curriculum development.
  • An understanding of Mātauranga Māori and its application in finance.

Further Information:

• Start Date: ASAP (to be agreed with the successful candidate).
• Term: The successful candidate will secure a permanent, full-time appointment (37.5 hours per week) based at AUT's City Campus.
• Salary ranges: Lecturer - $89,007 to $105,929 (specific step within ranges commensurate with relevant skills and experience).
