Job Description - Manager, Early Stage Process Development (9-Month Maternity Cover)

We have an exciting opportunity for a temporary Manager in our Early-Stage Process Development Department in Copenhagen. Do you want to be part of a company that helps customers bring new advanced biological products to market?

About the Team and Department

Our Early-Stage Process Development Department develops processes for our customers and supports material production for Phase I trials. With approximately 40 employees across three teams consisting of upstream, downstream, and analytical development scientists and technicians. Our teams collaborate cross-functionally to advance new biopharmaceuticals toward market readiness.

About the Role 

You will lead a team of 12 dedicated technicians and scientists, working closely with fellow managers to oversee daily operations. Reporting directly to the department head, you will be responsible for fostering a positive, motivating, and high-performing work environment aligned with AGC Biologics' values. Additionally, you will conduct performance evaluations and set development goals for your team members.

Your Primary Tasks Will Be… 

  • Leading a team of scientists and technicians.
  • Monitoring team members’ participation, engagement, and performance to ensure effective collaboration.
  • Providing clear feedback and fostering open communication within the team.
  • Ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, internal and external quality standards, and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Managing daily operations efficiently while balancing workloads across multiple projects.
  • Representing the department and team professionally, ensuring smooth interactions with internal and external stakeholders.

This role offers opportunities to collaborate with various stakeholders across the organization and engage directly with biopharmaceutical companies worldwide, actively contributing to their projects.

Your Qualifications… 

  • Relevant educational background in fields such as biochemistry or process technology.
  • Proven experience in team management within the biopharmaceutical sector.
  • Experience leading both scientists and lab technicians is highly advantageous.
  • The ability to assist the team in planning, executing, and reporting on early-stage studies.
  • Flexibility and a willingness to take on new tasks and responsibilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effectively interacting with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • The capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
