Regional Head of Communications - Svitzer Europe

Would you like to play a key role in driving impactful internal and external communication in a listed, global maritime company, being the communications lead for a regional business unit? Then the role as Head of Communication for Svitzer Europe might be the right opportunity for you.

Svitzer is a globally leading towage and marine services company – every 3-4 minutes, somewhere in the world, a ship relies on us for safe and sustainable towage in or out of a bustling port or terminal. Our expert crews and powerful tugboats work tirelessly to keep ports safe, goods flowing, businesses thriving, and communities connected.

For the recent 45 years of Svitzer’s close to 200 years’ history, we have been part of A.P. Moller - Maersk, but we were recently de-merged and separately listed on Nasdaq Copenhagen. This means you will be driving communication in an exciting, new context of Svitzer, once again, being an independent company. You will also become part of a company with an innovative mindset and a desire to leave a better world for the future generations, taking a front-runner position in the green transition.

As Head of Communication for Svitzer Europe, you will report to the MD of Svitzer Europe and be part of the European management team where your peers will be the functional and regional leads in Europe. At the same time, you will be a key part of the Global Communications Team, working closely with communications colleagues across Svitzer to ensure alignment, best practice sharing, and support of global priorities.

Lise Demant, MD of Svitzer Europe: “I look very much forward to welcoming you to Svitzer. You will find that my style of communication is open, and that I am very passionate about enabling our team to thrive and perform in a relaxed environment. I appreciate that you are a true team player as well as upright, structured and emphatic in your way of engaging with our team across functions.”

This is a 360° position, and you will be expected to master both operational, tactical and strategic communications. Your tasks and deliveries will support our strategic priorities, including driving our decarbonisation agenda, building a differentiating culture, and further building awareness and perception of Svitzer in the market. Your main tasks will be to:

  • Own the communication planning and execution for Svitzer Europe, maintaining an annual regional communication calendar
  • Develop targeted content for a range of internal and external channels and stakeholders
  • Further increase the use of some of our internal communications channels
  • Manage media relations, working both re-actively and pro-actively in close collaboration with Svitzer Global Head of Communication.
  • Serve as communications advisor to the European management team and other colleagues
  • Provide communications support on global tasks and projects.

You need to have experience with leading and managing a broad range of internal and external communications activities and disciplines in an international environment, either from a communication agency or in-house communication function.

As a person, you are self-motivated with a pragmatic go-do attitude but at the same time with the necessary attention to detail and quality. Your professional experience enables you to advise and deliver communications solutions for a wide variety of purposes and situations, ideally also including crisis situations. You need to have a global mind-set and outstanding oral and written English communications skills. Finally, you need a demonstrated ability to drive communications targeting a complex matrix of stakeholders with diverse backgrounds and communications needs.

We will be reviewing applications on an ongoing basis, so please submit your CV and a motivational letter outlining what you will bring to this role, as soon as possible.

More information about Svitzer can be found at . For further information about the role, please contact Head of HR, Svitzer Europe, Peter Bisgaard at [email protected]

Deadline for applications is 10th July, with interviews expected to be held during July and August.
