Vattenfall BA Wind is looking for a Senior Control Engineer with WTG Control, software, and data analysis knowledge for our Business Area Wind within the WTG Systems Engineering department. The WTG Systems Engineering department is the technical WTG knowledge centre within Business Area Wind, setting the standards and guidelines as well as being embedded within our projects, both through the development and implementation phase and later taking over the support to the operations as Backoffice. On the technical level the department covers all hardware and software engineering aspects of the WTG.
We now have an opportunity for the right candidate to further strengthen our WTG Systems Engineering team as Senior Control Engineer.
Job Description
Current challenges you can expect from us.
Your main responsibilities within WTG Systems Engineering will be various WTG control system and software tasks supporting development of new wind projects, and the operation and optimization of our existing offshore and onshore wind assets. Additionally, support the department's knowledge growth by creating and deploying industry best practices on electrical and data-science topics. In this context, it is crucial to continuously learn and to recognise the potential of constantly improving technology.
We support our assets throughout their operational lifetime, incl. assessing technical solutions, performing RCAs on the main component level, and assessing the technical integrity of the components and systems.

Your role
In this role, you will be a key contributor to the operational control and performance optimization of our offshore and onshore wind assets. You will collaborate closely with the Engineering organization, offering your expertise to ensure assets operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with industry standards. A core element of this position involves fostering knowledge growth within the department: you will create, refine, and deploy best-in-class practices on electrical topics, ensuring the entire team stays at the forefront of evolving technologies.
Throughout the operational life cycle of our wind farms—from commissioning through decommissioning—you will support ongoing technical evaluations, conduct root cause analyses (RCAs) at the main component level, and oversee the technical integrity of various systems. Your background in the electrical design of modern wind turbines, especially frequency converter technology, will be instrumental in identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and driving innovation across our portfolio.
As the Senior Control Engineer, you will also serve as a subject-matter expert, informing decision-making processes, guiding cross-functional teams, and ensuring that all engineering solutions align with both immediate operational needs and long-term strategic goals. By recognizing the potential of emerging technologies and consistently enhancing our technical standards, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of sustainable energy production.
Our Expected Qualifications to the Senior Control Engineer
Your profile
We are seeking an electrical engineer with a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering who combines a robust theoretical background with strong practical skills. The ideal candidate will have experience from the wind energy sector, demonstrating in-depth knowledge of WTG Frequency Converter Technology, wind industry project engineering, and troubleshooting for complex mechatronic systems. Experience in the offshore wind industry - including debugging at both the turbine and park levels is highly desirable, as is proficiency in Python, Matlab Simulink, or similar data analysis tools:
