Job Description:

Senior Director, Head of Transactions

Do you want to take the lead on transactional elements of global early-stage business development?

Can you skillfully navigate strategic business objectives and the scientific reasoning behind proposed transactions? Are you eager to leverage your experience to proactively forge and nurture robust networks among potential therapy and technology partners?

At Ferring Pharmaceuticals, we help people worldwide build families and live better lives. We strive to always be entrepreneurial and innovative in our approach to scientific advances. From early research to phase III studies, we are increasing our efforts to establish effective partnerships with academics, biotechs, and pharmaceutical companies across the globe.

Ferring + you
Joining our External Innovation & Scientific Licensing department (EIS), you can look forward to working alongside highly experienced colleagues focused on delivering innovations for Ferring. As Head of Transactions, your focus will be on deal structuring, terms negotiations, and contract preparation, emphasizing mitigating diligence risks. You will also support post-deal amendments during alliance management.

You will collaborate with internal organizations, including R&D line functions, Legal, Finance, TechOps, and other departments, to ensure compliance with internal policies. Additionally, you will work closely with senior management, advising on contractual rights and obligations, recommending means to mitigate contractual and program risks, and making recommendations for a balanced business deal.

Your day at Ferring
You can look forward to a dynamic workday in an agile, challenging, and fun environment. We strive to push the boundaries of innovation in an ever-changing and dynamic marketplace.

Your key responsibility will be leading all transactional elements of our external innovation and scientific licensing strategy (i.e., global and corporate early-stage business development, from research to phase III). By using your experience to work on license agreements, acquisitions, and partnerships, you will make an essential contribution to building value for Ferring.

Making a substantial impact on the overall vision for Global EIS, you will:

  • Draft, review, negotiate, and finalize term sheets and agreements that support Ferring’s business objectives
  • Develop negotiation strategies and conduct negotiations with third parties, evaluating risk exposure and making recommendations to executives
  • Coordinate with internal colleagues for the creation of appropriate valuation models and scenario modeling
  • Understand the business objectives of internal stakeholders and assess and present the risks arising out of the proposed transaction and how to mitigate those risks
  • Ensure the creation of business cases sufficient to support negotiation strategies

Your primary work location will be our spectacular, state-of-the-art office building, Soundport, in Copenhagen, and you will have the opportunity to work from home two days a week.

Behind our innovation – there’s you
We are looking for an experienced colleague with business and financial acumen combined with strategic agility. By securing the appropriate breadth and depth of relevant skills for each team member, we can ensure effectiveness and best-in-class knowledge.

You have excellent stakeholder management skills and can confidently present to executive-level leadership. In addition, you can effectively navigate ambiguity, and you are prepared to work in an industry where we must stay quick on our feet – and working on numerous business cases before finding the right partnership is a natural part of the process.

  • You have a strong track record of business development activities in life science, including deal-making and alliance management
  • You have a degree at PhD or MBA level, combining science and business
  • You preferably have pharma industry experience
  • You have strong communication skills as well as the cultural sensitivity to work effectively across a global organization
