Senior Field application technician, Falcom

Then you might be our new colleague in our FalCom division under GN. As our System Field Application Technician you will be the direct link to our customers. You will directly affect how our equipment interacts with our users’ communications devices in the field.

The team you will be part of: 

An innovative team of skilled specialists at our global HQ, located in Ballerup, Denmark, you will join our Audio Engineering team in the FalCom division, which is built on GN’s foundation as a global leader in intelligent audio solutions.

We create advanced hearing protection solutions that allow special operations, military, law enforcement, and security personnel to communicate in the most extreme environments – all while providing the highest-quality hearing protection.

You will be part of a small, self-organized team of international software, hardware, and mechanical engineers characterized by a supportive, collaborative, fun, and inclusive atmosphere. This team develops sophisticated software and hardware for low-power communication solutions. We engage in collaboration both individually and collectively, tailoring our approach to fit project demands, while working closely with colleagues across GN, particularly in R&D and sales.

You report to Senior Manager Audio Engineering, Jens Kirkelund, who describes the role as: “It’s a very exciting position. You’ll have plenty of room to manage your own work, with opportunities to travel, experience different cultures, and work with some of the industries top products and customer solutions. Your contribution is appreciated, and you will

Be a key contributor in developing and designing our prototype communication and connectivity systems, which include working with radios, intercom systems, and data devices at the users’ location, as well as simulating these setups in our global office. Specifically, you will:

• Design and integrate prototype analogue/digital communication systems
• Develop connection and wiring documentation for these systems
• Build, test, and debug prototype cables and assemblies
• Adjust and verify audio settings and profiles through software
• Document your work, test results, and handover information

To perform well in the role, we imagine that you have:

• An educational background as an Electronics/Electrical Technician or other relevant field of study
• Solid practical skills in soldering to IPC Class 2 or equivalent standards
• Experience assembling, testing and troubleshooting physical cables and/or small electronic assemblies
• Ability to read and create basic electrical documentation such as wiring tables, pinouts and simple schematics understand more complex electrical diagrams
• The ability to manage several projects in parallel and prioritise and structure your own work
• Effective communication skills and confidence in working with multiple different stakeholders
• Speak and write English fluently

In addition, you might have experience with:

• Experience with audio electronics (e.g., microphones, headsets, audio levels/profiles)
• Experience with tactical radios and intercom systems
• Experience with tactical radios or intercom systems
• Knowledge of EMC design and best practices
• Familiarity with working to IPC-A-610 or similar standards
