Job Description - Laboratory Intern

Job Description
Have you completed the first part of the Laboratory Technician education? And are you passionate about testing and securing the quality of the materials that goes into LEGO® products and play a part in the development of sustainable LEGO® bricks?

Two one-year internships starting H1 2025
We are looking for two dedicated and passionate Laboratory Interns to help us reach our goals.

Core Responsibilities
For both positions you will prepare samples, carry out tests, and register test results. Furthermore, you will support the development of new test methods and validation of existing methods.

Position one: The Materials department drives the approval process of new sustainable materials, colours, and inks, and we are responsible for trouble shooting and development of our existing materials in the production as well as developing new sustainable materials for the LEGO® Group. As part of this team, you will perform mechanical and analytical tests and work closely with material experts to evaluate the data you produce. You will also gain a substantial knowledge on our Ink & Colour testing platform which is used to evaluate everything from the recognizable bright red LEGO® brick to the expressions on our minifigures and much more.

Position two: Quality in Development (QiD) focus on ensuring great play experience in LEGO® products by using mechanical tests to translate it to data. We imitate the wear and tear of time and children’s hands, but over a short time span, which involves both simple and more complicated laboratory-based tests. We are also part of the exciting path for sustainable LEGO bricks as we test new materials.

Who are we?
The positions are in two different but closely connected departments.

The Materials department is part of Engineering and Quality. We are responsible for polymers, colours, and inks used for LEGO® products in global production. The aim of the department is to develop and maintain materials that are robust and resilient in products and production.

Quality in Development helps ensuring the high quality of new and existing LEGO® products that children and adults can enjoy for generations.

Both teams are big on enjoying the time spent at work, with room for both fun and learning. Different areas of expertise allow us to be flexible in finding solutions, and we are excited for you to chip in with new ideas and a fresh view on things.

Who are you?

  • Have completed the first part (1.5 years) of the AP Graduate in Chemical and Biotechnical Science (Laborantuddannelsen)
  • Want to learn about testing methods, and you can work structured and independently as there will be many repetitive tasks.
  • Are thorough and pay attention to small details as the testing results depend on it.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills and as we are an international team you are required to be able to communicate verbally and written in English.
  • Starting date will be February 1st, 2025.

What’s in it for you?
Here are some of what to expect:

  • Family Care Leave – We offer enhanced paid leave options for those important times.
  • Insurances – All colleagues are covered by our life and disability insurance which provides protection and peace of mind.
