The Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated Data Privacy and Compliance Intern to join our team. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in ensuring our products and processes comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Beyond this core focus, you will also support various compliance-related tasks and initiatives across the organization, gaining broad exposure to data privacy and legal aspects within a fast-growing startup.
What You’ll Do:
- Conduct GDPR compliance audits and assessments across our products and services under the guidance of our CTO.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement GDPR compliance measures.
- Draft and review data protection policies and procedures.
- Maintain records of data processing activities.
- Integrate privacy by design and by default principles into product development.
- Handle data subject access requests and other data privacy-related inquiries.
- Monitor and report on changes in data protection laws and regulations.
- Educate and train staff on GDPR compliance requirements and best practices.
- Support other compliance and legal tasks as needed within the organization.
- Assist in developing and implementing company-wide compliance programs and initiatives.
- Provide input on risk assessments and mitigation strategies related to data privacy.
Who Are You?
- Currently pursuing a degree in Law, Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of GDPR and other data privacy regulations.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Familiarity with data protection impact assessments (DPIAs) and data breach response plans is a plus.
- Previous experience in data protection or privacy law is desirable but not required.
