We’re looking for an intern to join the team for a 6-month contract. The Analytical Development team at the Bavarian Nordic San Diego site is a diversified group of scientists with a common interest in developing new bioanalytical methods for the characterization of in-process samples, drug substances, and drug products. We apply state of the art analytical techniques, such as liquid chromatography platforms and binding assays, to evaluate physical/chemical/biological properties and characteristics of our vaccine products. We work in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects. We are looking for an enthusiastic Intern to join our team for 6 months and help us to run the day-to-day activities.

Your Responsibilities

• Shadows senior staff to learn about processes and procedures and make and discuss observations
• Work cooperatively with other team members and assist in the testing of in-process samples
• Performs laboratory testing using analytical techniques such as HPLC, SDS-PAGE, immunoassays, dynamic light scattering (DLS), and compendial assays
• Assist in maintaining inventories of samples, reagents, and chemicals, including critical reagents like reference materials
• Perform lab maintenance duties, like lab cleaning, glass wash housekeeping, organizing reagents, preparing buffers, prime instruments

Skills & Requirements

• Education in or working towards a degree in Science
• Good communication skills, able to work with others, communicate needs, and ask questions
• A listener who can follow directions to execute tasks assigned by a supervisor
• Able to make simple math calculations and measurement conversions
• Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite
• Natural curiosity for science and desire to learn technical skills related to industry
• Detailed oriented in taking notes and ability to follow verbal or written directions
• Has a curious mind to learn technical skills related to the industry

Max 6-month Internship – Part-time 30hrs/week or less

Compensation: $22-28/hr (depending on education and skills)
