Job Description - Global General Performance Platform Manager, Cast Iron Motors

In this role, you will be accountable for the long-term profitable growth and marketing on global portfolio of General Purpose Cast Iron Motors. You will contribute to business strategy definition, translate business strategy and market requirements into competitive portfolio and manage associated portfolio planning, investment and development activity.You will report to the Global Head of Product and Platform Management.Willingness to travel is required (up to 20%).

Your responsibilities

  • Owns and manages a global product portfolio throughout its whole life cycle, with responsibility for offering profitability and growth.
  • Leads continuous business analysis of the existing portfolio and potential new portfolio items including analysis of alternative investments and reviewing potential partnering options.
  • Defines product portfolio offering and positioning in global markets.
  • Leads offering and solution strategy creation and develop long term product roadmap.
  • Contributes to business strategy definition and translates business strategy into the offering and solution portfolio through market and customer segmentation, and continuously analyses the content of the portfolio with a focus on new potential products.
  • Proposes and is involved in partnership activities, defining offering portfolio and related business strategy.
  • Oversees localization, footprint, technology transfer and trading model strategy definition to maximize time to market and product profitability.
  • Contributes to development of new portfolio by leading customer need and value analysis, planning the roadmap to create maximum value, follow up of portfolio performance, and ensure the coordination with R&D.
  • Analyses and tracks globally market, technology, competitor and customer requirements and trends related to the entire portfolio and determines competitive attributes, prioritization, and value proposition. Identifies potential gaps in portfolio, both against competition and new market opportunity.
  • Defines pricing strategies in preparation for new product launch, and otherwise as required.
  • Develops and maintains a global reference price list appropriate to both ABB internal product positioning strategy and competitor offerings and ensures this is developed and deployed to reflect the needs of individual markets.
  • Directs creation of the local offering business plan, ensuring fit with global strategy. Defines the business model and approves the pricing model. Makes decisions and approves prioritization on local offering portfolio development activities.
  • Initiates and drives product market communication strategy, including product launch planning and implementation.
  • Ensures clear communication of product value proposition and positioning to channels and users.
  • Manages different channel to market scenarios in coordination with channel partners and Marketing & Sales to ensure best market coverage.
  • Initiates creation of external and internal product training modules and programs to ensure product values, positioning and sales arguments are fully understood by the front-end and relevant partners.
  • Acts as interface between external market and internal functions (e.g. Sales, Operations, and Research & Development).
  • Sets targets and monitors product costs, giving inputs to operations functions (e.g. Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Production) to maximize competitiveness and profitability.

Your background

  • Bachelorâ€s degree in Engineering or Business Administration.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Product Management, Sales, Engineering or Marketing.
  • Good knowledge of low-voltage motors, low-voltage motors markets, customer needs and portfolio.
  • Knowledge of standards and regulations related to IEC LV Motors.
  • Ability to develop and maintain business strategy for specific product platform, drive actions to meet budget and performance targets.
  • Good knowledge of product pricing, price positioning and pricing dynamics.
  • Ability to lead market and portfolio analysis, derive insights and identify and prioritize strategic options.
  • Ability to drive execution of product strategy initiatives of other functions without direction.
  • Strong results orientation and analytical thinking.
  • Good influencing and negotiation skills, ability to lead without authority.
  • Ability to develop strong international network within the organization and collaborate with key stakeholders.
  • Fluent written and spoken communication skills in English
