Procurement Category Specialist


Are you a passionate procurement and supply chain professional with expertise in category managing packaging materials such as Cans, Preforms, Glass and paper packaging?

We have an exciting opportunity for a seasoned Market Procurement Category Specialist to join the Group Procurement function at Royal Unibrew.

The Market Category Specialist role will report to the Procurement Director of Finland and the Baltics, and have responsibility for category management, supplier relationships and collaboration, sourcing and negotiations, risk and governance, and driving continuous improvement across the value chain to unlock operational efficiencies to support Royal Unibrew’s growth and sustainability ambition. The role will be based at Lahti (Hartwall).

Main responsibilities:


• Deliver on relevant financial and other relevant KPIs and ensure supplier performance improvement plans are executed as required in partnership with the market procurement teams and key operational stakeholders.
• Execute group category strategies for the packaging categories ensuring local relevance in execution of the group must dos.
• Drive consistency in category management, sourcing and contract management processes and build best practices with the procurement community and stakeholders including optimisation of eSourcing and introduction of other digital tools for efficient cost modelling and benchmarking to drive cost efficiency and productivity.
• Manage sourcing and negotiations for the market categories and market NPD projects to deliver on cost, service, sustainability, and innovation targets.
• Coordinate supplier performance management activities with key suppliers across the market to deliver operational efficiencies, digital innovation, and sustainability and circularity initiatives.
• Ensure close engagement and alignment with market and group teams to maintain a fit for purpose supplier network to fuel sustainable business growth.
• Develop external radar and knowledge of the external supplier landscape, commodities, industry best practices, digitalisation and automation and EU legislative environment to proactively identify opportunities and risks.

Ideal candidate has:


• Bachelor’s degree: Professional CIPS qualification or similar will also be considered.
• Min. 5 years of relevant procurement and supply chain experience in packaging categories in an international or matrixed organization. CPG, food and beverage industry experience is a plus.
• Comprehensive knowledge of procurement processes, ERP systems and procurement tools including commodity management experience.
• A strong analytical and negotiation skillset.
• Good aptitude for risk management to drive greater resilience.
• Excellent communication, gravitas and influencing skills to build relationships with senior stakeholders internally and externally.
• Team player with a service-oriented mindset, who´s not afraid to challenge the status quo or be the critical friend when required.
• Project and change management – track record for initiating and embedding change.
• Enthusiastic, solution-oriented approach.
