Job Description - ASIC Technical Lead for Analog Design or ASIC Project Manager

ASIC Technical Lead for Analog Design or ASIC Project Manager (Senior Analog Designer)

We are strengthening ASIC Design Team in Murata Finland. Therefore, we are looking for a Senior Analog Designer to take a role of Analog Technical Lead or ASIC Project Manager and to join our ASIC Design Team in Vantaa, Finland.

Murata Finland is developing leading edge gyroscope and accelerometer safety-critical sensors for global automotive, industrial and healthcare markets. We design full custom mixed mode ASICs from concept level to volume production. Murata has flexible remote work policy in Finland and way of working can be planned according to your personal needs. Most of the workdays can be done remotely, but the job requires weekly work on site.

Analog Technical Lead role

In Analog Technical Lead role, you will take responsibility of a specific ASIC design area and become an expert on that. You work together with a small group of designers leading their design activities and providing support for them. As a Technical Lead, you will also work closely with ASIC PM, other Technical Leads and stakeholders in ASIC project. Your main responsibility areas are:

  • Technical lead for a specific ASIC design area
  • ASIC specification and system description
  • DFT solutions to meet test coverage and test time requirements together with DFT Lead
  • ASIC design, verification and reporting
  • Characterization specifications and result analysis
  • DFMEA
  • Support for production wafer test and result analysis
  • Technical support of the design area in question for all stakeholders

In ASIC PM role, your responsibility is to manage the whole ASIC project ensuring that all project tasks will be completed in schedule and with high quality. You work closely with the Technical Leads and Project Team ensuring that the team knows what to do to reach project targets and helping to resolve any challenges that the project encounters. You are the main interface for the key stakeholders of the ASIC project. Your main responsibility areas are:

  • Managing the ASIC project
  • Project planning, scheduling and task management with the help of Technical Leads
  • ASIC specification and documentation
  • Leading all the ASIC project related design and verification activities, organizing the work and ensuring that all areas are covered.
    • Including Murata internal and external design resources
  • Reporting to management
  • Main interface between the ASIC project and the key stakeholders:
    • Project Manager of the Component Project
    • Product Manager
    • Lead Engineers
    • System Designers
    • FUSA Manager / Team
    • ASIC Wafer Testing
    • ASIC Characterization
    • Failure Analysis

In Technical Lead role, the emphasis is more in technical design and tool skills, and in PM role, the emphasis is more in project management skills. In order to be successful in the Technical Lead or the PM job, these are the expected qualities and skills.

  • Technical education (e.g. M.Sc., Ph.D. or D.Sc.) with emphasis on microelectronics.
  • 5+ years of experience on analog ASIC design.
    • For the Project Manager role experience on project management (+2 year).
  • Project and task management skills, leadership skills.
  • Change management/leadership.
  • Understanding and knowhow of the common analog blocks such as:
    • VBG, LDO, amplifiers, ADC, DAC, oscillators, filters…
    • Basic understanding of the digital signal processing.
  • Knowhow of both continuous and switched capacitor circuits.
  • Experience of EDA tools and mixed signal design flows.
  • Proactive, systematic and careful way of working.
  • Good communication skills in order to understand various requirements and communicate with external partners and internal teams.
  • Innovative mindset and interest in working in an international environment.
  • The following skills are not requirements, but we expect you to have an eager attitude to acquire these skills:
    • Production testing of mixed mode ASIC
    • Simulation of analog blocks with System Verilog
