Job Description

We are looking for a Senior iOS Engineer to join our Payments Platform team within the Payments Group to build a world-class payment infrastructure.

The Payments group at Wolt consists of multiple teams out of which the Payments Platform team owns the Android, iOS and Web payment modules and UI as well as some end to end payment features such as: Payments SDKs for all platforms and all payment solutions across Wolt consumer app. The team is a mix of frontend and backend engineers who build product features end-to-end both within the team as well as in collaboration with Wolt’s other product and engineering teams (e.g. consumer teams).

You would be joining a cross-functional team with a remarkable opportunity to contribute to the team's roadmap, tech choices, ways of working, and, naturally, be able to build all kinds of cool payments-related, user-facing stuff. How cool is that - the stuff you will be building will directly impact Wolt’s users’ customers experience. You would be one of the critical persons for developing the iOS mobile client’s future, which is quite exciting really!

The payments platform team implements various payment solutions for Wolt’s consumer app, as well as ensure that other quickly growing teams at Wolt (i.e. Growth, Retail, etc) can readily use payments based on their needs (i.e. multi-payment, bill-splitting, recurring payments, two-factor authentication on demand, etc). 

Your contribution can relate to anything from implementing payments SDK for checkout and other user flows as well as integrating new payment methods across all of our 27 countries.

As Wolt operates internationally in over 27 countries and over 500 cities these teams are in a vital spot for enabling a smooth checkout experience for our 38 million registered customers and ensuring stable, safe and error proof money flows.

As the business is 24/7 so must our services be. We have a lot of highly challenging engineering topics for seasoned engineers - event-driven, asynchronous service design, blitzscaling business requirements and a strong emphasis on automation.

Ownership: We handle the whole development process (business logic, testing, database & data streaming, CI/CD, analytics, cloud) ourselves in an autonomous manner. Don’t worry, we’re not alone: We have support from central teams when we need help.

Technology: We utilize standard concurrency frameworks in Swift, such as Async/Await and Grand Central Dispatch (GCD). Additionally, we leverage ReactiveSwift and ReactiveCocoa for data binding. As part of our ongoing improvements, we are transitioning to Apple's Combine framework. For our delivery pipeline, we exclusively use GitHub Actions.

Autonomy: We make the decisions as a team and group of teams! We are free to choose the tools and make architectural decisions together. No top-down decisions!

Qualifications

You might be the one we are looking for if you have several years of experience in native iOS development with modern technologies ( Swift ). Experience in payments or payment integrations would be highly valued but not mandatory. We commit to a user-centric approach and expect to find someone like-minded.

On top of that, we value an attitude of constant improvements and also the ability to create things from scratch. An entrepreneurial mindset of taking ownership of what you've built is a must.
