We are now looking for a Data Engineer to join us in building the future of Finnish media! The position is based at Sanomatalo in the city center of Helsinki.

The role includes working face to face, with business tech teams, and hence requires a residence and working permit in Finland. We are a multi-cultural team, with English as a working language. Fluency in Finnish is not required.

Your core responsibility as a Data Engineers will be to transport, process and store data from diverse source systems and make it available for downstream use cases, as well as to work directly with our development teams to integrate data applications into our well-known customer-facing products, such as Helsingin Sanomat, Ilta-Sanomat, Ruutu and Supla. We emphasize the use of managed services, supplemented by custom components in critical areas.

Our work is focused on delivering business objectives, while at the same time developing common Data Platform capabilities that enable data quality, efficient delivery, governance and discoverability and meet the privacy and security requirements. The work is done in close cooperation with technical business teams to align progress, priority and details.

We are looking to achieve three key objectives
- Deliver data use cases such as reports, analytics and downstream integrations
- Establish and maintain reliable data pipelines to ensure timely delivery of fresh data assets
- Participate in the Enterprise Data Warehouse data asset, information architecture, and data modeling

Skills and knowledge, that help you succeed in the position
- AWS managed services such as CloudFormation, S3, Redshift, Dynamo DB, 
- Python/Scala/Apache Spark and SQL, experience with Lambdas
- Knowledge of microservices, event based architectures and distributed computing
- Agile practices, experience with version control, staged deployment
- Data modelling, structured/semi-structured data processing
- Designing and creating documentation for both technical and business processes
- If you’re passionate about agile and way of working, the role can be adapted for scrum master type of responsibility
