Hey technical experts, do you have a knack for untangling the toughest tech challenges? Would you like to put your skills to the test in the world of mixed-reality games that are getting people to move around the world? Here’s a challenge for you!

We're on the hunt for a Senior IT Specialist to join our growing team at Valo Motion!

In this role, you'll dive deep into understanding the computer hardware and software behind our mixed-reality products, solving complex technical problems , and developing solutions at an expert level.

Got your attention? Great, read on!

What is the role and who would you be working with?

We're expanding our technical team because we believe in doing things right, but we need an extra pair of hands (and an extra brilliant brain). Now, you’d get to be our team’s go-to person for deep technical understanding , especially regarding hardware and system-level software issues within our current and upcoming products as well as R&D projects.

Your role involves selecting suitable hardware for our products, shaping product testing strategies, and identifying preventive measures to ensure our products' smooth operation in the long term.

️ Use your expertise to deal with, for example, the following types of issues:

  • Component failures and understanding why they happen
  • Interoperability with peripheral devices
  • Driver issues
  • BIOS-related issues
  • Networking-related issues

Our systems run on Windows so deep knowledge of the Windows environment helps. You will be working with computer components, peripherals, and lower-level system software.

You'll work closely with our 2nd Level Support and development team in a collaborative environment. You'll guide our 2nd Level Support through complex technical issues and document solutions to promote continuous learning and improvement. Your input will help refine our hardware support and development processes, keeping us at the top of our game.

Here’s an example of how your tasks will be roughly divided – and don’t worry, you’ll have time to focus on each one:

  • 40% of your time will be spent on problematic hardware/system software analysis.
  • 20% of your time will go towards new hardware/system software preparation, testing, selection, and designing testing procedures. This means you’ll have a direct impact on the quality of our products.
  • 20% of your time will be used to provide expert third-level support together with developers and other tech team members. Together, you’ll solve issues that are beyond the capabilities of 2nd Level Support.
  • 15% of your time will involve crafting manual and technical documentation, which will help share your valuable insights with the team.
  • The remaining 5% will be for office hardware purchases and support, ensuring we have the best tools to work with.

#1 Grow and develop the technical knowledge of our company

You'll have a critical role in growing the technical knowledge of our company. Your work will have a significant impact on our products and the satisfaction of our customers. But also, helping your team members with technical matters.

#2 Make a big impact on our product quality

While you won't be in a customer-facing role, your technical insights and solutions will directly influence our product quality and long-term reliability. Your contributions will help us prevent issues and ensure that our products always meet the highest standards.

#3 Work for a meaningful mission

You'll be working with our innovative mixed-reality games that aim to revolutionize physical movement globally. We have a goal to get 1M plays per day where an actual person is moving with our games by 2030. This role is a rewarding experience if you share the passion for our mission!

Critical knowhow that you’ll need to succeed in this role

Language and Location: You're fluent in English and able to work at our office in Lauttasaari, Helsinki.

IT Knowledge: You have a deep understanding of computer components, Windows, network issues, drivers, and more. A background in PC repair & assembly is essential. You're the kind of person who can dismantle a computer and put it back together with your eyes closed.

Experience: You have extensive experience in technical support or a similar role, with a focus on deep technical analysis.

Analytical Mindset: You're a problem-solver, a critical thinker, and can solve complex problems. When faced with a challenge, you don’t see a roadblock but a puzzle with analytical steps.

Communication Skills: You're comfortable explaining complex technical issues with your team.
