We are looking to hire an innovative Mechanical Design Engineer to join the Engineering – Thrusters team in the Global Customer Support division at Kongsberg Maritime Finland OY.As a mechanical design engineer, one of your main duties is to support the team in planning and executing the upgrade design of existing thruster units. Most of the design work is done with close collaboration with our product management team. We wish you to be a creative problem solver with good communication skills as you are expected to give advice and support to the global service network and technical support and steer our existing network of contractors. We are able to adjust the role to meet your qualifications and previous experience, hence encourage also those, who do not meet all preferred qualifications to apply!ResponsibilitiesPlanning and executing the upgrade design of existing thruster unitsSteering the network of sub-contractorsAssisting Technical Support and global service networkDesign support for technical support teamCo-operation with product managementQualification and experienceMinimum of bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineeringPrevious experience with 2D and 3D design tools (we use NX), and AutoCadPrevious experience with PLM systems (experience with Team Center is an advantage)Experience with Classification Societies is an advantagePrevious experience and knowledge of shipbuilding and maritime industry are considered as an advantageGood verbal and written English skillsPossibility to travelYou are able toact on own initiative, make things happen and accept responsibility for the resultsuse a methodical and systematic approach, plan, define clear priorities, and allocate resources effectivelydemonstrate specialist knowledge and expertise in own areacommunicate in a clear, precise, and structured wayWhat we can offer you With us, you will be offered a competitive salary, good benefit package, flexible work hours, and good development opportunities in an international environment.
