AI Researcher (Multimodal Understanding & Reasoning)

At Huawei we are building cutting-edge technology that impacts millions of users on a daily basis. We are seeking a talented and innovative Reasoning Researcher to join our team and contribute to the development of advanced AI systems capable of understanding and reasoning over complex multimodal data. As a Reasoning Researcher, you will be at the forefront of pushing the boundaries of AI, focusing on developing novel techniques for multimodal understanding and reasoning.

Location: This position is located at our R&D office in Ruoholahti, Helsinki, Finland.

This is a full-time consultant position. The consultant shall be employed by Huawei's supplier.

Responsibilities:

• Explore novel techniques for visual question answering, visual reasoning, text-based reasoning, and multimodal knowledge grounding.
• Develop innovative approaches to improve the accuracy and robustness of AI systems in understanding and reasoning over complex multimodal data.
• Design and implement new architecture/algorithms to enable AI systems to understand and reason over complex multimodal data, such as images, videos, and text.
• Develop techniques to evaluate and improve the reliability improve the robustness and generalization of AI models.
• Explore the use of knowledge graphs and other knowledge representation techniques to enhance reasoning capabilities.
• Work closely with software engineers, data scientists, and product managers to integrate research findings into real-world applications.
• Collaborate with other researchers to share knowledge and explore new research directions.
• Publish research papers in top-tier conferences and journals.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
• Strong theoretical foundation in machine learning, deep learning, and artificial intelligence.
• Hands-on experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Proficiency in Python programming and data analysis tools.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• A strong publication record in top-tier conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, AAAI, IJCAI).
• Experience with reasoning techniques such as symbolic AI, probabilistic graphical models, and neural networks.
• Understanding of cognitive science and human reasoning.
