Design Manager

We are now seeking an experienced Design Manager to join our team on a major Data Centre project. The successful candidate will lead and coordinate the design process, working closely with internal engineering teams, BIM departments, and external consultants to ensure design deliverables are completed to programme, budget, and quality requirements.

• Support the Design Lead in coordinating with internal design engineers, BIM teams, and external consultants.
• Assist in liaising with the client’s design team to ensure project design coordination and integration across all disciplines.
• Track and update design progress to ensure deliverables are issued in line with the project schedule.
• Prepare and participate in design and engineering workshops, helping to resolve technical issues and maintain progress ahead of construction activities.
• Support the Technical Submittal (TS) process, ensuring timely preparation, submission, and follow-up with the design and client teams.
• Assist in managing the design query and RFI process, ensuring issues are logged, monitored, and closed out in coordination with relevant engineers.
• Help manage Issued for Construction (IFC) drawings and updates, ensuring all stakeholders are working to current revisions.

• Contribute to weekly design and coordination meetings, documenting actions and following up with responsible parties.
• Maintain and update the design risk register under direction of the Design Lead, highlighting emerging risks to the project team.
• Support in coordinating submittals, design documentation, and tracking of approvals.
• Assist with as-built drawing coordination, ensuring final documentation and models are submitted to project requirements.
• Ensure O&M manuals, documentation, and record drawings are submitted and uploaded correctly to the client platform.
• Provide support in tracking LEED requirements and sustainability documentation in coordination with the Design Lead and external consultants.
• Liaise with the Project Engineer, Project Manager, and wider team to ensure information flow supports site progress.
• Prepare design progress reports and assist with other design documentation as required.

Skills, qualification & experience:

• 3–6 years’ experience in the design and delivery of large-scale construction projects (e.g. data centres, commercial, industrial, healthcare, or educational facilities).
• Degree qualification in a relevant engineering or construction discipline.
• Exposure to multidisciplinary coordination across civil, structural, architectural, mechanical and electrical services.
• Strong organisational and communication skills with the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
• Proactive and detail-oriented approach, with a focus on meeting deadlines and maintaining quality standards.
• Data Centre experience is advantageous but not essential.
