Head of Equipment Architecture

As Head of Equipment Architecture, you will shape the technical direction of our equipment portfolio while leading a small team of experienced specialists. This is a strategic, high impact role where strong engineering expertise meets technical leadership. You will define long term architectural direction, steer system level decisions, and translate complex requirements into clear specifications that guide our engineering teams. The role includes occasional customer site visits (up to ~30 days/year).

Core Responsibilities

• Defining the long-term design roadmap to ensure all projects support business objectives.

• Setting architectural principles, standards, and best practices to ensure consistency, scalability, and compliance.

• Mentoring and supporting the engineering teams to succeed in their tasks.

• Reviewing and approving design solutions to minimize risk and ensure quality in delivery.

To succeed in this role we require qualifications and experience in

• MSc in engineering (machine design, automation) or equivalent.

• >8 years of experience in Semiconductor Industry and equipment.

• Strong track record to demonstrate understanding of equipment system level design, architecture, and integration to other units.

• Proven experience in managing, delegating to, and leading high-performing teams, typically requiring excellent soft skills over pure technical work.

• Strong communication skills for internal and external technical collaboration.

• Strong hands‑on experience in product development and lifecycle management.

• Ability to move fast: agile development of workable prototypes that can be cross-validated experimentally in iterative fashion.

• Good project and program management skills.

• Ability to deliver well written specification for the engineering teams for efficient execution.

• Ability to see the "big picture" and make strategic decisions based on business needs.

• Fluent in English, Finnish language is seen as an advantage.

In addition to requirements, we will value you having:

• Background of working as automation / mechanical design engineer and knowing the best practices.

• Experience in working in the Semiconductor industry customer interface in a role of technical expert or a project manager.

• Compliance and requirements know-how including machine directive, Semiconductor Industry standards, IATF 16949, ISO 13485.

• Experience with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence)
